Watto prevents a very rare event by bowling Mathews for 95. 2 tons and no other scores at 20 or above is very, very unusual.
Aus did it v Eng at the Gabba in the appaling 78-79 series when the Poms had their WSC players and Aus didn't. In the 2nd innings Yallop made 129 and Hughes made 102 in Aus's 339. The next best was Xavier Tras on 36 then Woody on 19. Soft qunts.

Re: Sri Lanka v Australia, 1st Test, Galle, 31 Aug - 4 Sep, 2011
He missed his ton but at least helped the Lankans to put up some resistance in their second dig after a pathetic first innings on home soil. Not too surprising that Harris did well as some were saying in the lead-up that the pitch should help the quicks throughout despite its dryness. It is just a matter of putting it in the right areas.
Interesting to see how SL will go in the second test. If they serve up another dry one and lose the toss they could be in trouble again but their attack would be whipped on a belter so they're a bit hamstrung. Post-Murali they looked pretty rubbish.
Australia post-Argus is showing some improvement in the field and with the ball.

Great catch by Midge off Reeb to wrap up the match. That is a grouse hard-working effort by the boys.
Huzzah, 1-0.

Even with Chuck, they have only ever won one solitary Test v us. And that took some dodgy umpiring back in 1999, when we were without both Tugga and Dizzy due to THAT collision.Red wrote:Australian dominance over SL home and away continues.

Indeed, remarkable achievement. I still prefer the other record he has though. Am I right in thinking he is the only Australian captain to lose 3 Ashes series?skully wrote:Aye, congrats to Drunky on becoming the first ever Test player to register 100 Test wins.Big Dog wrote:Lyon gets the charity last wicket, Aust win in four days. Sorry couldn't resist. Well done Aus though, first win in the sub-con since 2006. Would be nice if England remain at number 1 until 2013 (by no means a certainty) and Aus get to number 2 in that time. Would mean that the series would be the first time since 2005 that the Ashes has been contested by the two best teams in the world at the time and if I recall correctly that series had a couple of exciting moments.

Only on obscure cricket forums though. Haven't ever heard a commentator use it, which is why I lost the bet.skully wrote:Aye, check the Glossary, vilks. "Michelle" Five-fer has been around since at least 2003.lardbucket wrote:Vilks ... we used to use it on the ABC forum ...

It was in common use within the Aus side at the time, vilks. It's where the ABC forum picked it up from. Can't remember which Aus player made the reference but it was in the early 2000s.vilkrang wrote:Only on obscure cricket forums though. Phurt, the number of players to play 100 Tests is relatively small, so to have 100 WINS beside your name is grouse as all fark.vilkrang wrote:Poor Punter.skully wrote:He's the only Captain to relinquish the Ashes twice, vilks.

In fact, Punter is the ONLY player to have 100 test wins.
