Of the first five you mention, interestingly only one RHB.
They are bloody taking over, I tell you.
I suppose, after the highly satisfactory result, the selection panel (whoever is sitting on it at the mo) will go for consolidation, slip Marsh in at 3 and otherwise keep the same order "undisrupted".
Has the merit of retaining the LHB/RHB opening pair too. Should never be the leading factor - quality and form are more important - but is generally handy.

It smacks most of a bitter inability on the part of the selectors to admit they got it horribly wrong. Choosing a bloke who really doesn't even deserve his cap at FC level, for a Test match ... Bruce Francis' mantle (most undeserving Australian Test cap of all time) is under serious threat.

Good call. Let me take Kandy from a baby abductor.

First Beer, now Warner. Mental.
You missed Lyon in between.

Khawaja, Copeland, and Warner. What do they have in common, I wonder?

Warner has 7 Shield matches for a batting average of 36.91. In the 3 games he played this season he got his first ton and a 99, so not terrible, but not good.
He had a fruitful tour of Zimbabwe with Australia A - 48, 82 & 211 which has boosted his average by nearly 20 runs. The bowling attack of Price, Chigumbura, Vitori and Mpofu is pretty much their Test attack so maybe he will come good?

Small statistical samples do funny things.
And given the mass exodus from the NSP, who is picking players such as Warner? Is Pup now doing the choosing? Sad.

So ... can we (indirectly) blame Bingle for Katich's dumping? After all, she was indirectly responsible for that particular dressing-room confrontation.

Bingle is responsible for the demise of Aus cricket, full stop. She should be strung up in the town square and made an example of.

I see that the bad guys won the first Test.
However, in a few words or less, please to let us know:
NM Lyon (15 3 34 5) - is he good, genius like, lucky or $hitehouse?
RJ Harris (20 5 62 5) - same as above.
Also are they exchanging performances as Innings One for the first guy seems to be = Innings Two for t'other...
In closing, please do not tell me that Australia has found two demon bowlers. The pain would be too much.
I could volunteer to 'make an example of her'.

Furry
Lyon got Sanga with his first ball ...and 4 tailenders in the tailiest test ever ...he's an offie who had some success in T20 cricket ...he'll be steady in FC/Test cricket at best ...he's the type of bowler that banIndian batsmen can successfully play with their eyes closed
Harris charges in all day and bowls in the right areas ...deadly on his day ...steady at worst ...has had injury worries

I don't think I can bear any team being better than $hitehouse these days. But I can't think of a reason......

Agreed. An above average Test quick. If he can stay fit he will get 200 Test wickets.JGK wrote:furriner wrote:embee are you telling me that both are average or mediocre?

And agreed with A on Lyon. Good shape, drift and flight and gives it a rip. But as A says, the sort of bowler that Indians can play blindfolded and with a piece of liquorice. Prolly needs to add the Karam (sp?) and Doosra to become a true Test class bowler.
