Amazing that Jackie hadn't got a ton against the Lankans before. I didn't think that MM had any particular sway over him.

Well I did say that he has been batting in this Haydenesque T20 type mode. He has continued in this vein. He's played very well but to be honest the attack has been super modest and the pitch has been flat.
Just on the crowd, it's the non-CT venues that are targeted as being down. They always turn up at Newlands.
If you go back to the Aussie/SA thread at this venue you will see that I praised the crowd.

Oh and just on me being wrong all the time, I seemed to be the only one who thought that we'd chase down the runs in Joburg and that SA would collapse in Durban. Henry tipped them to make 550.
Good innings from Petersen. Maybe rather than dropping him for Rudolph they could have dropped Prince earlier, Petersen hadn't really performed that badly.

No it is the Durban crowds that are down. This has been pointed out to you on numerous occasions. Possibly your one brain cell cannot hold this information for susteained periods.

Both Kallis and Petersen have nearly been run out trying to get their partner a single to bring up his respective ton.

The pitch is flat, and Sri Lanka's bowling has been awful. Kallis is a real chance for 300 here.

If Lanka bats well they could still conjure a draw out of what is shaping up as a nightmare for them after sending the opposition in but it must be demoralising seeing the ease with which the batsmen are playing their bowlers.
SL are a noisy fielding lot.

Now, where is that unstoppable SL bowling from the previous Test?
SAf well in the ascendancy already, you'd think.

Uhhhh, no. Nope. To paraphrase your perspective, you said he was finished. Washed up. Done as a Test force. Given your view on him, shouldn't he have got shot out early regardless of the attack and pitch? I mean, a pretty similar attack to the one that you wrote him off on the basis of, no?

Saw none of the day's play and only caught up with the score now. WTF did the Lankans choose to send in South Africa?

They're hoping that South Africa will bat for three days, and that this will befollowed by torrential rain

Serious decline. Think you should reserve judgement until he plays England in England and Australia in Australia. If he scores heavily, I'll admit I'm wrong. A big innings in his home town where he scores prolifically against pie chuckers on a belter is not a great test for him. He did look slightly vulnerable in any case when they tested him briefly with a few short ones early.
