skully's BFF in the news:

'Absolutely ridiculous': Hadley denies assault allegation

September 27, 2012 - 5:45PM
Eamonn Duff
Sun-Herald senior investigative writer

When Sydney radio host Ray Hadley opened his house to more than 60 students on Friday night, it was always likely to be a boisterous affair.

The teenagers - all friends of Hadley's daughter - were in celebration mode having just attended their year 12 formal at Hills Grammar School and when they arrived at the celebrity broadcaster's home, many were carrying alcohol.

Within several hours the graduation party had turned ugly: Hadley's electric front gates were allegedly kicked off their hinges and there were several heated flashpoints with a drunk student believed to be responsible.

Today, NSW Police confirmed an investigation had been launched following a complaint from a 17-year-old boy relating to both the 2GB presenter and his son, Daniel, who is a serving police officer.

The boy alleges he was assaulted by both men. Hadley's camp has described his account as "absolutely ridiculous".

The Herald understands NSW Police is also addressing counter claims, by the Hadleys, that the teenager may have been responsible for property damage and the assault of an off-duty police officer.

According to the boy's statement, lodged at Castle Hill police station yesterday and obtained by the Herald, Hadley's daughter posted a Facebook Event online about one month ago, inviting fellow students to her family's Kenthurst house for a "year 12 after party".

When the school's formal sit-down dinner had ended about 11.30pm, students began making their way back to the Hadley residence.

By 2am, the boy - who had arrived with a large hip flask of whisky - was "pretty intoxicated", adding: "That's when everything started to unfold."

After falling to the floor, the teenager claims Daniel kicked him while he was trying to get up.

A series of verbal exchanges with Daniel and two other off duty police officers allegedly followed.

The teenager then alleged: "I felt my head being hit from behind. I turned around and saw Ray Hadley standing right behind me. He was that close, he was almost touching my shoulders. As I turned around he grabbed my shirt by the right shoulder, lifted it up, scrunched it in his hand and it nearly choked me. He said words similar to: 'You're out of here you little turd."'

The student said that, while Hadley was dragging him down the driveway by his shirt, he continued: "Shut your f---ing mouth ... say one more word ... I'll roll you."

As they reached the end of the driveway, Hadley then allegedly let go of the shirt and said: "There's the gate. Use it."

According to the boy's statement, Hadley returned a short time later, yelling words similar to: "One of you little c---s broke my gate."

The boy denies damaging any property.

The broadcaster was unavailable for comment today - he is in hospital undergoing tests after reportedly contracting pneumonia at the London Olympics.

However, addressing the incident, Hadley's lawyer Peter Dawson said any claims that Hadley or his son had acted violently were "absolutely ridiculous".

"These students arrived back there after midnight and Ray's instructions were that only those over the age of 18 were allowed to drink.

"As you know, he is not terribly well at the moment so he certainly wasn't supervising.

"This boy was heavily drunk and there are numerous witnesses that will confirm that Ray acted nothing but appropriately. They will also confirm that the boy assaulted an off-duty police officer.

"He was escorted off the premises for both the assault and for his foul language. That's when we believe he took his revenge out on the gate."

A NSW Police spokesman said that, as the investigation was current and ongoing, "it would be inappropriate to comment further".

At least one other student is known to have so far provided detectives with a formal witness statement backing the boy's version of events.

Have to say, if I had a bunch of obnoxious drunk teenagers at my place I would do the same.

And Melbourne has the least amount of CCTV cameras of any major Australian City, despite being the second most populous, so his criticism is justified. And the Victorian State Government is Liberal, anyway.

CCTV cameras would be the domain of the local council not the state or feds. As it was they had to rely on one inside a dress shop

Speaking of pinko farkwits (as lardy was about Carr in another thread), just WTF is Conroy smoking?

"Communications Minister Stephen Conroy has declared he has "unfettered legal power" over telecommunications regulation, including the ability to request Australian telcos "wear red underpants on their head".

The bizarre comments were made by Senator Conroy at the Columbia Institute for Tele-Information conference in New York last Monday, and were reported by communications publication CommsDay yesterday."

Dear God, can the Pinkos get any more arseclownish? Shocked

What a farkin embarrassment. Rolling Eyes

Could Alan Jones really stoop this low?

Gillard's father died of shame: Alan Jones
September 30, 2012

Heath Aston
Sun-Herald state political editor

There are calls for a boycott of radio station 2GB over remarks by Sydney broadcaster Alan Jones that the Prime Minister's father, John Gillard, had "died of shame".

The talkback host told a packed room of Liberal Party members: "Every person in the caucus of the Labor Party knows that Julia Gillard is a liar, everybody. I will come to that in a moment. The old man recently died a few weeks ago of shame. To think that he has a daughter who told lies every time she stood for Parliament."

In a tape recording of the dinner, laughter can be heard in the background as Jones makes his remarks.

Jones went on to claim the media had somehow brainwashed the federal Liberal Party to go easy on the Prime Minister because "she's a woman".

"No, no look, hang on, this is where we are weak. This is where we are weak," Jones said. "Can you believe that they have gone, the federal party because they've been brainwashed by the media to 'oh back off, she's a woman, go easy'."

His remarks were met with outrage tonight, with thousands of people taking to social media to condemn his stance.

A list of advertisers on 2GB was being circulated, with calls for those companies to boycott the Jones show or 2GB altogether if he is not removed or disciplined.

Jones's comments were recorded at a $100-a-head Sydney University Liberal Club President's dinner held at the Waterfront Restaurant at the Rocks last Saturday.

The club tweeted the next day: "Brilliant speech by Alan Jones last night. It's no wonder he's the nation's most influential broadcaster!"

Attendees at the function were running for cover last night, with two leading Liberal Party members telling The Sun-Herald they had not heard the comments, despite listening to Jones's entire 50 minute speech.

State Liberal MP Ray Williams told The Sun-Herald: "It was a loud room and a long speech. I recall Julia Gillard being mentioned but not John Gillard."

Young Liberal president Simon Fontana, a staffer for Community Services Minister Pru Goward, also insisted he did not hear any claim that John Gillard had died of shame.

He told The Sun-Herald he had listened to the entire speech but did not hear anything about Mr Gillard's death.

Last year, Jones said of Ms Gillard: "I'm putting her into a chaff bag and hoisting her into the Tasman Sea."

Jones has also claimed her behaviour in imposing the carbon price "borders on the treasonous", and has agreed with one of his callers regarding Ms Gillard: "Yeah, that's it. Bring back the guillotine!"

Mr Gillard, 83, whom the Prime Minister described as her "inspiration", died in Adelaide this month after a long illness. "Above all, he taught me to love learning and to understand its power to change lives," Ms Gillard said.

"He always regretted his family background meant he had not proceeded on to higher education as a young man. He was determined that I had the opportunities he was denied. I will miss him for the rest ofmy life."

Ms Gillard, who was in Russia at the time of her father's death and was close to him, immediately flew back to the family home in Adelaide to grieve with her mother, Moira.
