Always thought the Dee's utility player called Matthew Bate was getting into dangerous territory, especially with the sort of commentary teams we have.

Luckily he plays for such a crap club the commentators haven't had anything to jerk over from him

'Brad Dick' is problematic enough, but compared with his uncle who played half a season with Essendon in the early 90s he did OK - the uncle's first name was Willie (no I didn't make that up!)

The dreaded Rex Hunt (one of prob not many blokes whose name is rhyming slang for himself) commentated WD's first game, had a bet with his fellow commentator 'Shut-up' Shane Healy that he could get through the match without making any smart-arse comment about the name, which he lost - before WD got off the interchange bench.

And then there was that weightlifter from the 70s, Precious McKenzie....

I think you're right. I worked with a bloke of that name for a year on a project. I struggled not to snigger very day.

Period ANYTHING would be a bloody curse of a name.

Pronouncing it like he would, might make it more family-friendly but no less ridiculous.

Maybe Kyle Abbott doesn't sound ridiculous, but unfortunately he's already - by design or accident, called Jimmy by many...
