About 40 runs more than they need here.
BTW - what a lame attempt at catch in the last over by the captain.
He can get really bogged down when he's not in form though, I've seen some horrible one-day innings from him for both England and his county. He is probably best as a finisher type player at around number 6 with the expectation of bowling a few overs, as he is in this side, I was never convinced by him up the order.
That could apply to ANY English batsman!

He's never a top-order international player. But does he fill the Paul Collingwood, dob-all-rounder role? Yes. Just about. Bear in mind the other choice is Samit Patel who doesn't take wickets or keep the batsmen honest.

I like Ravi's bowling in ODIs. He's a million times a better option than "specialist bowler" and co-dobber Chris Woakes quite simply because he does something with the ball. He always gets a bit of inswing going. Doesn't take much movement to cause batsmen to struggle to time the ball, which at the very least makes him relatively economical.
The fact that he can genuinely bat (on occasion) makes his selection in the XI - from the chosen squad - a no brainer.
Which is why it's surprising that England have picked him - they've got shit for brains in every other aspect of their approach to ODIs.

I know the commentary team keep banging on Steven Finn's non selection as if it's some massive scandal, but it'd be nice if someone on air could be honest about it: he's bowling like shit.
His run up's all over the place, his action's falling away and spraying the ball legside, he's down on pace, he's got sore shins, and he's still crashing into the stumps like discombobulated stilt walker.
That's why he's not playing.

Yeah must admit that I'd keep Bops. I've seen the filth that comes from our 'back up' and he's better than that. He looks to score runs when he bats rather than fervently look after his wicket by purposefully wasting balls
Re: England v Australia, ICCCT Match 3, Edgbaston, 8 June, 2013
So we're bowling cross-seam already, when batting with two new balls in England is meant to be treacherous......

Looks like it will be an interesting chase. If Warner comes to the party oz could cruise it. Then again collapso is always on these days.

FFS don't bowl your part-timers together! Should always be one specialist bowler on. Cook's captaincy really is pathetic.

On the bonus side for Oz, Bailey must be an Ashes consideration?

Crazy stuff.
Better than any of the pencilled-in top four. (Not including Clarke, that is.)
