Aye, it was great to see the human side of Sachin. "I will definitely miss the 'Sachin...Sachin' chants" and then 40,000 people started chanting. Goosebumps stuff.skully wrote:Great speech at the end by SRT. An ornament to the game. Congrats on a fabulous career.

...really decent speech from a person who has never chased the media...someone t on the radio here said that every Oz cricketer should be made to watch the the little fella and listen to his speech...he values the game above himself and aside from his wonderful skills has exited the game as a good sportHenry wrote:Aye, it was great to see the human side of Sachin. Does come off that way. Shillingford's not worse than Ojha.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. Somehow Shillingford doesn't get away with the 15 degree allowance.

Can't say Aussie domestic franchise T20 registers on my cricketing radar at all... my surprise was that they would bother investigating a part-time bowler.Nath wrote:been reported in the past. remember the kerfuffle in the Big Bash also?beamer wrote:Shillingford and perhaps more surprisingly Samuels reported for chucking... that's their one positive for the series wiped out then!

My oldest cricket memory is Sachin playing the straight drive. My first bat had his likeness playing the hook on it. My entire childhood was spent trying to hit the backfoot cover drive off pacers, like he did. And failing. I tried bowling legspin because he did, not because of Warne or Kumble. I could give specific examples of moments involving him, like my irrational hatred for Jonty Rhodes for taking an unbelievable catch at backward point in an ODI during India's horror tour of SA, '97.
I don't even know cricket without Sachin Tendulkar. Guess I'll have to now.

FFS we all know umpires are not allowed to report sub continental chuckers.

If Shillingford and Samuels are to be banned from bowling, they could insist that Ajmal, Ojha, Harbhajan, Botha, and Mills get banned with them.
Shillingford is certainly no worse than any of them, and there's video evidence to prove it. But alas consistency blatantly doesn't seem to apply when there's pressure from the BCCI.
Having said that, he'll get tested, bowl little lollipops in the nets with a perfectly straight arm, and be cleared to play again.
The ICC are a complete laughing stock. But we've known that for 10 years now.

He's been reported for chucking in international cricket once before. Got a bit buried under the bookie business that followed.beamer wrote:Can't say Aussie domestic franchise T20 registers on my cricketing radar at all... my surprise was that they would bother investigating a part-time bowler.Nath wrote:been reported in the past. remember the kerfuffle in the Big Bash also?beamer wrote:Shillingford and perhaps more surprisingly Samuels reported for chucking... that's their one positive for the series wiped out then!

So, chucking, match-fixing... any history of ball tampering, pitch alteration or drugs? Or the ultimate cricketing crime of not walking after edging one to slip off the keeper's gloves?
He could go for being cricket's Luis Suarez, seemingly trying to tick off every form of cheating/misconduct available to a player...

Samuels - arrogant, cocky and insular q**t, with just the occasional hint of what passes for talent these days.tricycle wrote:He's been reported for chucking in international cricket once before. The way he handles himself and arrogantly strutts around - you'd be forgiven (if you'd just landed from Mars) for thinking he was the great man Sir Viv himself . . . only difference is that he isn't fit to fetch Viv's boots let alone lace them up.

He must be a teflon twat. Just scrapes off the crap that sticks to him and continues... well, the least that can be said is that he's in a position where some crap can fly his way.
