Is there a softer cock in Australian sport than Tomic?
He makes Watto look like AB.

The awkwardness amongst Australian sports fans when Tomic plays is wonderful. The cheering is so half-hearted. Because you know he will let you down in one way or another.

Re: Aus Tennis Open 2014
They have often said about Australian Open that they won't do anything until someone dies on the court. This time around, this line has been used more often and with more intensity.
You sympathize with the players to play such a grueling sport in that kind of heat but what can the powers that be to do? They have put roof over the main arena. Obviously can't be done for all the courts. The yearly tennis schedule is so tightly packed there is no chance of any move.
As Federer said the other day - just get on with it, it is the same for both players. That is the attitude you'd expect from a champion.

Apparently he's been on an angry sookathon since someone changed his Wiki page to say that his nickname is "Mad Dog" *. "That is NOT my nickname, and I will KILL anyone that claims that it is!!"
* It must be true, cos Sky News told me so.

The thing is, it is not just heat from above. On a hard surface, like this tennis tournament, it is also the heat from below your feet. It really is something...all that heat from the ground....

Re: Aus Tennis Open 2014
Nah, in Tomic's case, he knew from game one he was in for a hiding, so thought "fark it, it's too hot to be humiliated by Rafa. I'll just feign a hammy and tank this early".
As easy to despise as the Man and his Duck is, he never, ever gives up, and certainly never tanks. He toughed out a 5 setter yesty in similar heat.

I see some sharp court-side entrepreneur attempted to make some quick cash by betting on point outcomes and exploiting the 2 second delay between live and TV action. So court-side bans on smartphones next?

Sloppy service game at 4-4.
I think the frog will win from here. The Aussie is looking tired.

Just messed up a golden chance to break in the fourth. They're both looking tired.

And predictably Williams blames a back injury. She's arguably the least gracious competitor of all time. Have never heard her credit her opponent when she loses. It's generally because she hasn't played well or is injured.
