Winx about 15 mins away, going for her 4th Cox Plate.

I have a funny feeling she won't win.

Storming finish by Cross Counter got the win.

Was awful watching it live, as the horse's broken front right flapped around.

Horses are fragile. Left to their own devices in a paddock they will find all manner of ways to crock themselves. Racehorses are better looked after than your kids.

Since she began her 33 in a row, the Carlton Football Club has won twenty games and in more starts.

BHB been good to me over the years and have been in and out of PNG so not really following it much, thus put the sentimental dollop on him.  Hope the owners retire him now.

So Carlton's poor form was down to Winx? They've certainly done better since she became a knackers' target.

Yikes. That made me feel sad. Winx is safely away in the breeding barn.

I once had a lot of contact with the industry. Thoroughbreds are among the most beautiful animals on the planet, even if they are not all that bright.

The ABC story made me sick.

Ridiculously hard Melbourne Cup to pick. The favourite will probably start at 9s.

So I'll just have to go with my default bet - box the 6 favourites and the two best remaining lightweights.

Disinterestingly played the exotics with vow and declare as the banker.  Plonked some on the nose as well.

Got the first four one year but not the trifecta due to a last minute bet and a misreading of the numbers.  I'm prepared to dine out on the happy accident.
