He's a bit younger than this two; and he should do well given his tuition.
I see Steve Smith FAC has given Robson his endorsement.

As for "not quite ready", it's not as if he's 17... do they leave counties to develop players (in most cases badly) until their late 20s, or let them learn at the top level and if they're good enough they can potentially have long and successful Test careers?
It took Dinga 5 years to finally get a decent average together.
He was shite in the 2005 Ashes series - averaging 7 ish over 9 innings (if you discounted his one major innings) . . .
My point is that Robson has only had a season and a half - scoring runs latterly.
Hence my reservation about him being upgraded.

Sri Lanka's popgun bowlers aren't really an upgrade. If Robson, or anyone else, can't make a few scores against two desperately ordinary attacks (India are due in the second half of the summer) then he's never going to cut it.
Apart from Bangladesh touring, this summer is as soft an entry into Test cricket for the batsmen as is possible.

Yes, have to agree. Unless there're some real grippers, if this rabble of ineptitude can't fat up their deflated averages against these two sides they can f*ck RIGHT offfff.........
Re: Eng squad for first Test vs SL (warning, Chris Woakes)
Robson has the advantage of coming in from well outside all the petty County and ECB politics.

No. There is no Future England Captain. There's only Ali 'New Era™' Cook. He's got the family upbringing to last for decades.

Aye, Cook = Renaissance Man™

Ali Cook was at Epsom today, handing out prizes to the winners of the first 2 races AND was obliging with interviews to a select few.
Taking time out from the 3rd series loss, I'm guessing!

I am absolutely certain that 'New Era™' spurted out of his mouth. I was watching Anglia News last night, he had a benefit match at Essex. He could not stop himself from saying it. I heard it twice at least.
