Considerably better over the phone and even better if you asked (somewhat booze impaired)for the Lords test as well.

He appeared to be genuinely distraught at getting such a hammering but it's unfortunate that his use of language to explain it is so lacking in emotion (he's from Essex ...'nuff said), especially any sense of anger (pig farming does that to you). He uses phrases such as 'unacceptable' which is entirely reminiscent of big CEOs when they describe a total failing of their customers. I also heard the 'take it on the chin' phrase trotted (an excellent description bearing in mind his occupation and his old friend and opening partner) out, a horrible leftover from the Moores era.
I just don't see how Cook could fire the troops up to bash their way out of a paper bag let alone wrest the initiative back from eleven hungry, baying Aussies. He's not got the nous that Brearley had and he lacks the fire of say a Hussain. So he keeps the chair for the summer, we take our whipping like men (OK, like babies) and then Root takes the hot seat for the winter tour and beyond.
The point, quite simply is this - should England lose at Birmingham then they have to WIN the last 2 games to win back the Ashes. Simple maths ... but I don't suppose for one moment that has even occurred to Cook.
The worry now is the mental disintegration the team have endured ... a 409 run defeat is HUGE in any book - will undoubtedly play on their collective minds as the squinties come hurtling back at them ... it's gonna take serious balls to keep them out, and I'm not so certain now that they've got them.
I thought the first Test win was huge?
(and fixed, with deletion of a heap of random 'return' hits)

F*ck me is every Aussie going to be in the UK this time of the year?
Don't set fire to any illegal South Asian immigrants while you're there, they don't like it and you're not at home.

Dougie for sheer audacity (to which the squints cried "foul") and Mike for his sheer over-excessive cerebral
attributes (mind you, it doesn't take much to out-cerebralise (?) the squints!)
You daft racist.

Must have had a good night out.
Voges: 5 is indeed a bit mean, when he's dishing out superlatives all over the place otherwise. (Seems to have rated Clarke only on captaincy, for example.)
