South Africa's bowlers didn't have as much of an issue.

Who honestly cares about non-WC ODIs?

I don't care who plays, really, nor do I care about the results, so long as players with some potential for improvement and Test or WC representation are learning and improving the skills that will take them there. For every Mitch Starc that is developed through JAMODI play, there will be a Shane Lee or ten.

Not so sure, Trev. The SAffers will be very hard to beat in conditions not unlike their home.

On the pitches they are lily to play on, I can't see them being able to bowl Aus out cheaply enough to force results. If Starc is fit, he could be the difference between the two sides.

And de Villiers missing coupled with some quota balancing selections might tip the balance our way.

One thing this series did show though, was perhaps we overestimate our depth.

2nded Nath. I think we have consistently overperformed in recent years based on the individual performances of a small handful of players. We are now actually performing to the standard our thinning cattle really should be.

Agree with this, but my observation was based on the traditional notion that we consider the SS to be the superior domestic competition and often extol the virtues of our perceived depth. Once it may have been true, but at the moment our star quality ranks are thin re. above comments.

we no longer have the Haydens, Elliotts, Bevans etc churning out the 1000 run seasons.

Now the spotlight has shifted (back?) to our sledging. I don't think we know how to play aggressively without sledging.

If he doesn't come to oz, it will be a boringly one-sided series.

Correct for once Red.
