They want to retain the number one ranking.

What spin. More likely SACB said 'more tests, or we won't come'. Honestly, why would anyone bother to go to India to play yet another non-WC ODI series that no-one gives a flying f*ck about?

Exactly, it's godawful.

I think they're due to tour SA during their next summer. It has also been remarked at times that SA officials bend over to accommodate the BCCI. And let's not forget that it's probably worth a bit of money to the SA board, one dayers or not.

It's funny how people on here are so willing to criticise the BCCI because they apparently only care about money, and yet when they actually do something good for the game and schedule more test cricket, the haters are nowhere to be seen.
Credit where credit is due, and the BCCI has done a good thing here.

Total BS Trev.
The BCCI has been against tests for years. Most other cricket associations pushed for more tests and the BCCI turned them down chasing the bucks.
Now India has fluked the number 1 position and see a money making opportunity everyone else must back down?

leaving the obvious bait aside. There is nothing wrong in playing more tests to maintain the numero uno position.
It's normal human instinct.
You can't change the goalposts once your opponent got there. That is fixing.

well BCCI is now # 1. And the goalposts are being sought to be moved slightly to cover the bending ball.
Australia during it's heydeys used to fix umpires like Bucknor, with nary a sound from South Africa or it's fans like yourself.
If cricket is to progress it can't remain a racial fiefdom of a select group.

Fair enough. India can't handle seamers on pitches where the ball moves around.
We all knew that

It's been proven that Dravid, Tendulkar, and Laxman can handle the ball in any condition. Lower down the order Dhoni too.

Of course India fluked the number 1 spot. SA set the precedent for the same sometime back when they briefly became no. 1 without beating the then reigning champions Aus in any test rubber that had the likes of Warne, McGrath, Hayden & Gilchrist. I am sure India has just been winning tests at home only on 'dustbowls' last 4-5 years and has not achieved anything significant beyond that!

Could be argued that Sehwag broke the back of that particular run-chase though.
More of a match-losing innings by England's bowler's too...

So it should be run by the Asian Bloc to ensure that India gets the best deal and the rest can GFT? And that wouldn't be racist? Right...buckSH wrote:If cricket is to progress it can't remain a racial fiefdom of a select group.
