If we’d taken Dawson or Batty it wouldn’t exactly have helped our cause (though Rashid’s pigeonholing as a white ball specialist is puzzling given the alternatives). Though why we took a youngster to carry the drinks if we don’t trust him to play is anyone’s guess.
Well said.
If you're going to stick your bloody necks out and pick the young hopeful over the seasoned Yorks veteran or the frowned-at Somerset wicket-taker for the Ashes squad, at least bloody play him when your other spinner's arm is crocked - esp in relatively spin-favouring conditions.
Bayliss & Co seem to have mislaid their brains altogether at this stage.

Was prompted more by Dello's reflection on his batting.

Seems to be good bounce. Not much sideways movement as yet.
Interesting stat from the Nein commbox - the last team to win after inserting the opposition in Adelaide was the West Indies in 1982 (with one of the greatest ever attacks).

How often have we said this over the last 10 years- Anderson and Broad too short early on.

Well this is total bullshit. Anderson and Broad wasting the new ball.

7 wasted overs and we're already on to plan Woakes - which is the final stage before surrender.
Cool.

Quaint decision to send the home team in.
No way would Oz have bowled.
Most peculiar.

Nice little rain delay so England can get back in the dressing room and share high fives with their bowlers for keeping it tight and maybe stretching the game to three days.

After the short rain break when play resumes, the ball will get a little wet and its capacity to swing will diminish.

Why is Jo being so negative?
Adelaide autobahn, behind in the series wtf. Are the black arm bands really for the demise of Pomgolian daring?

With Chef out of form and the England top order shellshocked from Brisvegas, I reckon the decision was more a defensive one than attacking.

Speaking of Brisvegas, I had to chuckle at KP's underwhelmed opinion of the place during T1.

Sigh, off again. Radar doesn't look too threatening. Light stuff drifting off the sea.

Oh shit, it’s going to be 5-0 again, is t it. This England team just isn’t up to it mentally or technically. The attack looks seriously powderpuff.

Commentariat suggesting Root would have consulted Jimmeh and Malfoy before deciding to bowl. Clearly the bowlers decided they did not want to bat today.
