Correa apparently in intensive care having broken both legs and sustained a minor spinal injury. Hope he makes a full recovery.

A win for Leclerc was fitting, even if it wasn’t the circumstances in which he would have wanted to take his maiden victory. Should be the first of many.

Correa has seemingly taken a turn for the worse after being transferred to a UK hospital. Let’s hope he pulls through.

Very fortuitous not to get TWO penalties. A couple of home decisions, I think, for the Ferrari driver who got just a finger wagging for pushing Hamilton off the track and a "note" for cutting the chicane and gaining an advantage.

Still, it's kind of funny to see Vettel becoming the number two driver in the team.

Funny in a kind of suck shit and die kind of way.  Never in the field of motor sports has so much been owed by one to so many.

not much of excitement on the track this year, and this seems the most recent thread on a quick search ... but news is that Sergio Perez is out of the British Grand Prix with COVID 19.

How many more races this year, then?

He went to Mexico between races, so no connection to anyone else in the F1 environment.

Hamilton wins in a Mercedes Reliant. Maybe if they ran all races on three wheels it would be close?

I could t believe Red Bull pitted yesterday after Bottas’s incident. It was the F1 equivalent of Australia’s last wasted review at Headingley last year.

Pierre Gasly won in Monza, both Ferraris DNF.

Apart from Hamilton still winning (nearly) everything in a Mercedes, there seems to have been a bit of a changing of the guard this season. Gasly, Stroll, Sainz all on the up.

The midfield teams are very evenly matched. It’s just that Mercedes are further ahead than ever, and Verstappen is proving he’s a class apart from all the drivers other than Hamilton.

Ferrari have lost the plot completely, and not finishing just saves them the shame of trundling around to score zero points and finish behind customer Ferrari-engined cars!

Honda’s withdrawal after next year raises significant issues for the sport. Only three engine suppliers remaining, and Red Bull and their junior team could face a tough choice between an awkward move back to Renault, a sub-standard customer Ferrari engine, keeping a white-labelled old Honda engine, or withdrawing completely if none of the options look competitive and leaving just 16 cars on the grid.

Bring back the days of pre-qualifying, where anyone could stick a Cosworth engine in the back of a go-kart and have a crack at it!

Mercedes, Mercedes, Red Bull, Renault; rinse and repeat.

Ferrari have been a massive disappointment.

Very nasty incident in the Bahrain Grand Prix. Romain Grosjean's car burst into flames but fortunately he was able to get out quickly.

Incredible, car cut clean in half and the driver managed to get himself out of the front half embedded in the barrier in a fireball. Sounds like minor burns and broken ribs but nothing worse.

No idea why he veered right, mechanical issue or just anticipating bunched cars in front and not realising Kvyat was coming up from behind?

I thought there were two cars involved initially, given how far the back half ended up from the barrier. Hard to believe an F1 car could split apart like that and penetrate the barrier, even if the survival cell and halo did their job impressively.

I remember Berger’s crash at Imola in ‘89, at the same corner that was to claim Senna’s life five years later, and that was apparently the last time an F1 car went up in flames like that due to a crash. Like Grosjean, he got away with fairly minor burns, so fireproof suits had obviously come a long way since Lauda’s infamous accident, even then. Slightly more recently we had the Jos Verstappen pit-lane fire and “Diniz in the oven” (great headline) but they were fuel leaks/spillages rather than crashes. But given the protection they have, it’s just about getting out of the car in time. Fortunately Grosjean was conscious and able to do so.
