England v Australia, 2nd Test, Lords, 14-18 August, 2019
Smith's genius is papering over the cracks at the top of the order. No changes due to the win for Aus, but a failure by Bancroft should see Harris return for T3.
For England, surely Moeen is gone and Johnny B looks hopelessly out of form with both bat and gloves. Archer will come in for the crocked Jimmeh.

Unless we are losing of course. In which case I will be mightily unhappy with Langer.

Only way England can get back onto this is if they prepare the same “substandard” pitch they had for the Ireland test.
They probably need to make about four changes, but I reckon there will only be two- Archer/Stone for Jimmy, and Leach for Moeen.
But how about giving Buttler the gloves as well and telling Jonny to make some f*cking runs? Bollocks to his feelings. He’s been a passenger in this test team for over a year now.

I am relying on Furri to produce Langer voodoo dolls. Obviously given he is a garden gnome, the dolls will be tiny.
Hope you and Lardy have a bonzer time. Another win would guarantee that.

Zim just reminded me that Aust won the first Test in 2005 by 239 runs. Steve Waugh's only job in the next 10 days should be to make sure Steve Smith doesn't step on any stray cricket balls.

Lardy's a good man so it will be a bonza time regardless. But yes, a win at Lords will be a bit of a life highlight.

We need Vaughnie to slag Bairstow off and for Jonny B to throw his toys out of the pram. That seems to work.Henry wrote:Only way England can get back onto this is if they prepare the same “substandard” pitch they had for the Ireland test.

On his day, Mick can be a master of unintended reverse psychology.
But as it's unintended, it's a bit hit-and-miss.
An on many days, he's just wittering about designer merchandise, and what he had for dinner.

Tell him to make said f*cking runs for Yorkshire, and that he’s a one-day specialist until further notice. Buttler is getting close to the same ultimatum. Foakes did little wrong, he should have the gloves.Henry wrote:Only way England can get back onto this is if they prepare the same “substandard” pitch they had for the Ireland test.

I fully agree, but they won’t recall Foakes for Lord’s. It would be too extreme for England. Goving Buttler the gloves though might give Jonny the kick up the backside he needs though.

To the surprise of everyone, Jimmy Anderson has officially been ruled out of the second Test.
Unless he declares himself fit, from his hospital bed with both legs in traction, in which case England will pick him.

6-27 off 12 overs, and a run-a-ball hundred for Jofra Archer in his second XI run out today.
He'll be opening at Lord's at this rate.

If he was in SA he'd have to spend a few years revising in a good school,

I see Warner is being rested from the tour game starting today. Poor bugger must be exhausted after his efforts in the test.
