I've just got myself "I'm being forced to wear this mask" mask to wear on the bus. My kids want to disown me but fark 'em.
Has it got thick red lips on it?

Oy lardy.
You were very vocal re: the 3rd Test at the SCG proceeding in dodgy covid circumstances. What's your take on the Vic Govt allowing the Aus tennis Open to go ahead in Bleak City at this time?

Doubts also arise about the efficacy of available vaccinations against the original and mutated versions of the Virus.
The Vaccinations Oz have acquired also have questions on efficacy for those aged over 65, simply because the the testing of the vaxx had a limited number of test subjects over 65.
Embee's hold my beer comment is spot on.
Nothing other than supportive care has been proven to be useful as treatment, despite the bleatings of Trump and other farkwits.
The vaccinations will have efficacy - it remains to be seen how much, and how variable efficacy is against different strains. My guess is that there will be reductions, but neither attack rate nor mortality will be reduced by much more than 60%.
I heard Norman interviewed the other day ( He was spruiking Holey Moley )
He said something about being 'injected with antibodies' and the symptoms clearing up
Is this snake oil?

Re: Corona Virus
Blood (or at least palm) taken from convalescent patients (they've got antibodies to the virus, because they're surviving it or have survived it) has some observational data supporting its use in the very ill, and it is logical that this might have some effect ... but as far as I know there are no RCTs that prove efficacy. The big RECOVERY trial was inconclusive.

No, but I go have a mark with the gimp zip printed on it as well. Haven't been brave enough to wear that one yet.

Hmmn. In this day and age I guess we should applaud Invader Zim for printing up part of his self portrait.*

Re: Corona Virus
Yep I was in lockdown there for three days leading into midday today after briefly transiting Brisbane to see my son and grandson ... I'm supposedly returning to Tas in 10 days but that return and going back to work looks problematic; it may involve a further 14 days in mandatory isolation (because of the earlier time in Brisbane). It's a nuisance.

Re: Corona Virus
Just curious how many folks here have had it?
Right now I'm in my second go at that rodeo, although I think the first time around September last year was a misdiagnosis (no symptoms).

Hope you're OK. So far have managed to avoid it and would like to keep that record, at least until I'm vaccinated.

Can COVID-19 vaccines connect me to the internet?
COVID-19 vaccines do not – and cannot – connect you to the internet.
Some of the mRNA vaccines being developed include the use of a material called a hydrogel, which might help disperse the vaccine slowly into our cells.
Bioengineers have used similar hydrogels for many years in different ways. For instance, they've used them to help stem cells survive after being put inside our bodies.
Because of this, some people believe that hydrogels are needed for electronic implants, which can connect to the internet.
The Pfizer mRNA vaccine does not use hydrogels as a component.
The Pfizer mRNA vaccine contains a piece of mRNA which is coated in a lipid (fatty) droplet. The lipid helps the vaccine enter our cells, as the membrane holding our cells together is also made mostly of lipid. The vaccine and the membrane can fuse easily, depositing the mRNA inside the cell.
