First milestone passed....
The Method looks well up to it....very much of the 'two gloves, both feet on the carpet, leave diving to the soccer crowd and other show-ponies' school

4-85 at Lunch after 3-12 is acceptable, I suppose. 3-85 woulda been better.

England well on top, but what might they have achieved with Anderson?

All bowlers getting rag-dolled now -:Vorgan setting an early attempted woof record by mentioning Snot still looking for first ton, when he was on about 36

5 changes for England, party like it’s 1989…
Good start but lost our way again, it seems. Tommy’s injury a blow, appears only one bowler’s really contributing now. No point risking Jimmy if he’s not 100% though, he’ll be eyeing some cheap wickets in the Caribbean as he closes on Warne…

So Burns and Pope got their places back on the basis that their terminal dismal failure was matched by two other batters' terminal dismal failure. Not one, but two. Is this a record?
Meanwhile, another chance bites the dust for this sorry England crew.
Green seems to be growing (!) into the role, with some assistance. Will Carey hit a ton next?

Probably happened with Hick, Ramprakash and Crawley (sr.) back in the day…PeterCS wrote:So Burns and Pope got their places back on the basis that their terminal dismal failure was matched by two other batters' terminal dismal failure. Not one, but two. Is this a record?
DH (or The Friar, if you want to go more Shakespearian…) can count himself a bit unlucky not to have had a run-out. Though it may help his cause for the Caribbean/coming summer!

I thought Pope was back in as result of Jonnys thumb trouble. Why was Wood preferred to Anderson on such a greentop?
The king of the dibleydoblers, Â Darren Stevens would have loved to bowl on this pitch. Oz have certainly tried to make
England feel at home with all these green pitches this ashes. And Robbo must have the same prob as Stokes, can field cant bowl.

What a shame Cam Green holed out to the expensive Wood.
He was looking very assured and set for that maiden ton. I can only remember one or two play-and-misses.

Not even 60 overs bowled. The call of "rain" by the Umps was a mercy call on the Pom's pay packets. At their rate they would have barely reached the new ball with the extra half hour.
Not that this would worry Ollie "the buffet bowler" (cue the Marley classic with revised lyrics). His major complaint is the absence of snack carts he can select from as he labours back to his bowling mark.`
England and the officials ripped off the Bellerive crowd yesterday. I can only imagine what Big Dog would have said.

English are not very smart.
Meanwhile Boland averages 16 with the bat. This is almost double his bowling average.
Does this afford him all rounder status?

I thought it must have been injury. So just resting.

Wasn’t fully fit apparently. And I suppose no need to add too many miles to the clock in dead rubbers, if they still want to keep him around for the next couple of years.furriner wrote:horace wrote:furriner wrote:Why isn’t Jimmy A playing?

Barmy Army trumpeter breaks out the “Livin’ On A Prayer” at half way to the mythical 300…
…and with that, Billings holes out, so it’s down to Wood, Broad and Robinson to support Woakes to get us another 150 or so. Odds don’t look great.

Shane Watson 2010/11 against Pakistan - The previous occasion an Australian player selected primarily as a batsman took 10 wickets in a series.
