We are gonna need a ton in each innings from both Shrapnel and Smudge to get out of this.

Warner is not worth a lot of runs these days.

Who's available to step up? Cupboard's a bit bare.

Crashing to an innings defeat here.
Ooze and Smudge gone in quick succession. 3-59.

What’s the situation with umpires now? Has the two neutral umpires policy been scrapped for good? I thought it was a temporary measure due to Covid travel issues etc. Though there were always issues with the “elite” panel being too small and at times dominated by English and Australian officials (I remember one Ashes where there were only three or four available, a few years ago.) Given the typical age and travel requirements it was probably difficult to get the best to sign up on a long-term basis as well.skully wrote:I missed the fact that Chandimal was given not out caught behind by Dharmasena (mentioned by lardy on another medium) when Aus had no reviews left.
From Dickinfo:
"Starc to Chandimal, no run
Massive appeal for caught behind! The Australians are pleading. Starc forgets there's no reviews left. Was short outside off, Chandimal had a waft at it. Will need to see Ultra Edge. And there's a spike."
Chandimal was on was on 30 at the time and Lanka were 4-274. Clearly this "error" has had a significant impact on Aus's current position.
What a shame umpire neutrality/competence is again in question. Then again, Dharmasena was always pretty shit.

The Galle pitch doing expected Galle pitch things (rather than the recent pitches). Getting very hard to bat last. Mendis has got a bad ball an over... but a lot of beauties as well.
Australia probably need Smith to have a few more brainfades to get their referrals correct again.

What a piss weak performance after being 5-298 at the end of Day 1.
Clearly arrogance and complacency took over. We are now gonna get smashed by an innings.

Carey missing THREE stumping off Lyon didn’t help us here either. Muppets will keep like muppets.

Smith and his temper and selfishness does not endear himself. His dummy spit for his runout aimed at Uber K was prodigious. He also had to take some responsibility.
Burning the DRS review yesterday for a plum dismissal was a Watto level of stupidity and selfishness.
We were disappointing and outplayed in all aspects and SL fully deserved their win.
