India v England, 2nd Test, Visakhapatnam, 2-6 February, 2024
As Nath suggests, are we in for raging bunsens and 3 day Tests now that England has beaten India on home turf?
I was genuinely surprised at the exceptional quality of Pope's 2nd innings (he looked inept in I1) and Hartley's astonishing return in I2 after his 1st innings pasting.
What have India got in return?

No offence, Nath, but I think India's losses are way bigger.

Bashir and Anderson in for Leach and Wood. Havnt seen Indias XI but media suggest Sarfaraz for
Rahul and Sundar for Jadega. I would prefer england have another seamer like Yobbo for Rehan
whose bowling was expensive. I expect india to bounce back, and england to be derailed by
their own hubris.
Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes, Ben Foakes, Rehan Ahmed,
Tom Hartley, Shoaib Bashir, James Anderson.

For all the predictions about the pitch, this has been a very good batting surface.
Gill needs his spot questioned. He's been poor for too long.

6-fer at the death. Jaiswal looks good for 250 if the tail helps.

Near carried his bat. Bannies al 396. In a surprise to no one Jimmeh was the pick of the Pomgolian bowlers.

Poms not doing so well.
Michelle for the great Bummer and four catches to Chubby Gill.
Always terrific to see Johnny Rotten Bunter Bairstow get a start and then fail.

Didn't catch any of the play today. Tied up with family matters.
England did well to restrict the Jaiswal-double-lead-innings (well done him) to under 400.
But they got Bumrushed after that. What a bowler - 6-fer. I saw his demolition of Pope's stumps via a MrK SMB post. It's rare to see a screaming yorker take two poles out of the ground.
Advantage India.

With the turn Root has been getting this series it was ridiculous to select 3 more spinners. I feel that they are certainly a pace bowler down as things stand and it'll go some way to costing them this game. Stokes being unable to bowl surely meant that they needed another quick in the 11. The fact that in Indian conditions the home spinners have made little real impact in this game shows that England has certainly mis-read the pitch. I fear this could be a bit downhill from now on for the visitors. Wood or Robinson could have made some inroads into that huge total i feel.
