Plus it is possible that some of these highly paid overseas are not fully accepted by the local crowds given what goes on at the national level.

Will be interesting to see how all this plays out since it is virtually a first in Cricket with a lot of money at stake even though overseas players have been part of County and occasionally Australian state cricket teams.

That much is most likely true.

Still, pity I couldn't be there to show 'our Mathew' some love.

SG,
1. Get the web address of the picture. You can get it by right clicking on a picture. Thus

http://www.damnimcute.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/mendes.jpg

2. To the left of the 'link' icon on your Reply mode is the 'image' icon. Click on the 'image' icon and paste the web address into the box that open up. And there you have it:

The IPL thread - Page 2 Mendes

3. Remember to have a box of tissues by your side.

Not quite correct.

Get the web url, open an account in a picture sharing site, like photobucket.com, etc. Move the photo to your account on the picture sharing site. They'll give you the url you can paste here. Then follow step 2 above.

You don't need to open an account doremi. I didn't.

Instead of clicking the 'host an Image' icon, click on the one to its right.

You don't need to, yes, but I think linking it directly from the source is frowned upon by forumotion.

"South African batsman Ashwell Prince was bought by the Mumbai Indians for $175,000, in addition to U-19 players in Saurabh Tiwary and Manish Pandey."

is ambani on drugs?!? $175000 when the others were Misbah-ul-Haq ($125,000), Dimitri Mascarenhas ($100000), Morne Morkel ($60000), Shane Watson ($125000), Sohail Tanvir ($100000), etc

we are f*cked!!

I'm not at all happy with Mumbai team. They also let Rohit Sharma slip from their hands and bought Uthappa for a much higher price.

What happened to the concept of players from the catchment area? Looks like Mumbai U-19 players slipped from Mumbai's hand, Delhi's U-19 players slipped from Delhi's hand and so on!

Jaipur finally makes a few choices that make sense

Morkel at $60,000 could be the best buy by any team yet. I'm surprised Prince wasn't picked up by Bangalore, would fit in nicely with their other batsmen.

What's the money mean anyway? It's not as if they haven't all gotten their quota of foreigners anyway. Still, what do I know. It's not as if I've even been following how it all occurs... just that my team is the daddy.

BTW Mascarenhas joins Jaipur with Hampshire's 'blessings'. First English (probably only) to join the comp.

"John's last visit to Kolkata was not very memorable. But we assure you this time you'll leave with happy memories."
Sourav Ganguly, the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, tries to exorcise any demons John Buchanan, the coach, might be carrying from the Test in 2000-01, which Australia famously lost to Ganguly's Indians. Buchanan was Australia's coach then

Thanks for that: the sad thing is that counties will fill the vacuum left by decent overseas players with has-been or never-was Kolpaks, when they should be looking to bringing on their own young talent.

There was an interesting suggestion in one of our papers recently, which suggested that in future, counties might be allowed to recruit four overseas players for our 20/20 competition.
