9th September 2007
I saw legendary left arm twirler Murali Kartik at Brent Cross. Near the escalators. Outside Barrets shoe shop.
Frankly, I don't see the point of anyone else posting in this section as this is surely the greatest moment in all human history.

I once called Mark Waugh "Steve" - twice - and lived to tell the tale. Don't know if I'd have survived had it been the other way round...

I saw Ajay Jadeja walking down Khan Market in Delhi once. He had come back from his first international; forget what game but he had flopped.
Pretty girl walks up to him and flutters: "Oh Ajay very well played".
Good times.

Guess who used to come into my shop to buy penny sweets...that's right, Rik Waller.
He's too 'big' now so all he doesn't buy any sweets from us anymore. His dad still comes into the shop though.
Not cricket related but still.

Seen loads, including Derek Pringle in, the then, Hilton in Lahore, 1996; Asif Iqbal on South Molton Street, London W1 (I think either '92 or '93); Sarfraz Nawaz on a plane from New Delhi to Lahore and in Selfridges Oxford Street, London, and of course, Imran Khan many times. Happy times!

Not that we're playing "who's seen the bigger celebrity" but all of those pale into insignificance next to Murali (7-76 on a completely unhelpful pitch against Australia...) Kartik.

Sorry, Brent Cross? South Molton Street & Selfridges W1, mate, is where any self-respecting cricketing-celeb hangs out!

When I was arranging the interview with the Waughs I was forced to use Merv Hughes as messenger boy. I'm sure no-one can come up with anything more daunting than that.

Re: 9th September 2007
I once got very, very drunk at the house of Sir Patrick Moore, astronomer and leg-spinner extraordinnaire, at a new year's eve party he held. I proceeded to talk complete bollocks at him for almost an hour, which he dealt with with admirable patience, then I staggered almost catastrophically into his drinks cabinet.
Good times.
Good times.

I don't believe the McGrath one or the Patrick Moore one. Are we all just making things up?
I was once riding a camel through the Sahara when I met a wandering Arab. The wandering Arab turned out to be Mike Gatting. He asked me for drink of water. I gave him a drink of water. Then he asked me for some food. I gave him my last packet of dates. Then he asked if I'd give him a ride out of the desert. My camel took one look at his massive bulk and started to have some sort of convulsive fit. So I refused and left him to die.
True story.

Re: 9th September 2007
Allan Lamb has nearly run me over about 7 times. He bought me a drink when I told him that in 'The County Tavern'.
Curtley Ambrose taught me how to bowl. He didn't do a great job, because I'm shit.
Devon Malcolm gave me a sandwich.
Stephen Crook and I did shots on his money for about 30 mins.
Only one of those stories isn't true.
