Dinesh Karthik and Gambhir actually missed the chances. Also Laxman, but we can possibly forgive him a few mistakes.

No surprises to me about the fielding or the lacklustureness on the field.
But But 4/5 catches were dropped by members of so called young brigade.

But why let facts get in the way of a good story?

This is worrying. In the past, our ground fielding was iffy, but you knew the catching was pretty good. Now it seems to be the opposite.

That was VVS's 99th catch in tests, only Azhar (105), Sunny (108) and Dravid (173) have taken more catches than him for India.

Besides you won't expect Josh to speak against Karthik and UMB, would you?

Thankfully it seems that Ishant's injury wasn't serious. He is back on the field.

I think our ground fielding recently too has hardly set the world on fire.

I remember us losing a test to Eng in '06 due to our horrible fielding alone. We could've so easily won that series without those fielding lapses in 3rd test at Mumbai.

Is it safe to assume that we're progressing in that direction in this test as well?

As much as I think about the combination of Murali and Mendis licking their lips in anticipation to bowl on this wearing pitch, I start to visualise more and more of that Mumbai test.

Key as always would be opening partnership. If we can go unscathed by the time we get to face the 2 Ms I think we'd have done well. But with UMB playing as an opener in this test may be that thought looks quite far fetched.

All of India's 4 main bowlers have conceded 100+ runs.

Kumble (or may be selectors) should seriously start to have a rethink about his future in Indian team, he is averaging 42+ since last Dec.

It'd be better to appoint him as non playing captain then.
