Ponting is a dad

Congratulations to him and his wife on the birth of their baby daughter.Normally I don't bother with things like this,but the first one is always special.

Not good for the father/son rule though. We wanted a boy.

I missed its first name but the second name is Charlotte according to the news.

AUSTRALIAN cricket captain Ricky Ponting and his wife Rianna today welcomed their first child into the world.

Rianna gave birth to baby girl, Emmy Charlotte, in Sydney this morning.

"She is the most gorgeous little girl and Rianna and I are absolutely thrilled at her arrival," Ponting said in a statement today.

Mother and baby were doing well, the statement said.

Emmy? FFS, named after a shit TV award.

Who else read this thread title as 'Ponting is a dud'?

At least the Punters didn't name their child after a third rate TV chat show hostess, unlike Mr and Mrs Punter snr.

Congrats to the Ponting family. Glad its a girl.

Hope she's not as hairy as her old man.

He'll either make stacks of runs in the next 12 months, or his form will fall away a lot as his priorities change.

I actually read it as 'Ponting is dead'. Bit of a shock for a second.

Name change for Talula Does The Hula from Hawaii

A New Zealand judge has ordered a name change for an embarrassed nine-year-old girl called Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii, a local newspaper has reported.
The girl was so embarrassed that she had not revealed the name given by her parents to friends, who simply knew her as K, the Taranaki Daily News said.

Family court judge Rob Murfitt said in a judgement made in February -- but not released until Thursday -- that oddball monikers created social hurdles as children grew up.

"She fears being mocked and teased and in that she has a greater level of insight than either of her parents," he said of the girl.

The judge discovered New Zealand parents had given their children some other unusual names including Number 16 Bus Shelter and Midnight Chardonnay, both of which may relate to the conception of the child.

One child was named Violence and two pairs of twins were called Benson and Hedges and Fish and Chips. The children from one family were all named after six-cylinder Ford cars.
