Shah to bat at 3 in ODIs

I just think Bops is what 22? Shah is 29?

Bops needs to bat up the order to move his game forward - finisher has never been his game anyway.

He'll bat 5 anyway I presume so the 'finishing' can be left to Sammy Patel

Hmmmm. So because he is 22 he should bat higher than the bloke who has shown to be probably our second best ODI bat in the last few series?

7 Bresnan/Wright
8 Broad
9 Swann
10 Anderson
11 Sidebottom


Prior to play the role of aggressive accumulator. Fred to tonk some power play runs. Bopara to bat through. KP to KP. Shah to finish or bat through if we collapse. Colly to Colly. Bresnan/Wright to tonk. Broad to finish. Swann to tonk. Bats deep.

Topbottom, Anderson, Fred, Swann, Broad, Bresnan, Bopara, Collingwood means A LOT of bowling options. 8 bowlers FFS.

Yes, I think I've cracked it in just 30 seconds of thought. It'd certainly be an entertaining team. Might even get me to watch some ODI cricket if that lot played.

Purely looking at it from Bops point of view - don't see a problem at 5. I just worry he'll get shoved down with the dead men again.

Apart from a few times in the NZ series at 5/6 .... he's always come in with either 5 or so overs to go, England 100-5 or needing 8 an over!

Probably. But hey ho, he had a whole series against the snoozers, and that'll do just for now. Didn't do much. He's also not really displayed anything so far that says to me he is a number 3! Mainly a few piddly 20 from 45 balls type knocks!

If he produces constant 20-30* off 30 balls batting at 5/6, then he's making a case for himself. Plus he'll definately get a chance when we are 50-3 from 15 overs, which is a standard for us!

Keep Bopara away from Pietersen. I don't want him running out the captain.

Cook, Mustard, Shah, KP, Colly, Patel, Flintoff, Swann, Broad, Sidebottom, Anderson.

Yes, everyone gets to build a proper ODI innings at least half the games due to wickets down. And it ends up with more/all wickets down and not many more runs.
