Well, I think he may well have played his last Test. The only way I can see him having a future with England is in the shorter forms of the game.

Because Collingwood and Moores are both as thick as 2 titanium coated, water swelled short planks?

"He's desperate to play" - Collingwood, during the toss.

Re: Flintoff out of SL tour
You see lots and lots of bowlers remodel their action because of back problems - although often the consequence is a reduced pace.
It seems to me that the problem won't go way, no matter how much rest he has and no 'magic boots' will solve this problem. He could bowl in slippers and the impact problem would still be there.

Re: Flintoff out of SL tour
So what? He'll always be desperate to play. That's just the way he is. Moores and Collingwood were simply too weak to tell him "No f*cking way". David Graveney also.

We could of course leave him as he is and accept that he's only going to be able to manage a very limited bowling workload in future. :?:
Probably the best bet overall I'd suggest.
Use him sparingly in 6 over bursts.
He's far too good (and respected) a bowler to start messing with things now ...

Dunno, will be hard to reduce his pace because of the double whirl. I'm no expert either, but I'd try to get him running as straight as possible and then splay his foot on release, it's his strength that produces the seam movement and pace. By rights, he shouldn't be able to move it away from the left-hander from around the wicket... but he does.
Re: Flintoff out of SL tour
Great bowler but at over 100 kgs slamming down on a twisting ankle, I can't see the big guy ever recovering full fitness in the front ankle.

Re: Flintoff out of SL tour
From 1995 to 2000 he had major problems with his back(He was actually on the verge of giving up bowling completely) and from 2002 to 2007 it's been his ankle giving him grief.
In the early stages of his career he just jogged in and bowled around 75-80 mph, and didnt put much pressure on the ankle. Ever since he started to really run in and try to bowl fast, the ankle has been in trouble.

At least Fred can smile about it all. Watch Watson get injured in slow motion and you can always pinpoint the exact moment his heart breaks(As well as his hamstring)

Ah well. The bottom line is, Watson is a bigger sook than Flintoff, and has half the talent. Apart from that he's great

Uhhh Ashes 2005? What, you've heard that before? Oh. Yeah.
CB series anyone? :|
Re: Flintoff out of SL tour
And again, probably no arguments there either. But it does get a little tedious Trev, when you constantly have to cover up your own countrymen's performances by digging up some lame article or opinion about...hmmmm...let me guess...oh yeah...Aussies. Do you have any friends in the country which you currently reside?? It must be like a gaol sentence mate.Henry wrote:Ah well. Bwahahaha. I'll raise your Ashes 2005 and [smirk] CB 2007 with an Ashes 2006-07. I don't need to remind you of the score...but I will... 5-0!!!Batfink Begins wrote:skully wrote:

Yeah, deep down I'll never forgive any of them for that. Ever.
