Anyway, it's not bowlers Essex really need - they can't be so unlucky as to lose bright young things Westfield and Chambers for the whole of next season.
Couple of bats would be nice...

Aye. Losing Flower & Irani permanently and then Cook/Bopara for much of the year turned us from being challengers into Glamorgan.
Another rumour along with the weird Dave Fulton one is that Neil Dexter will join from Kent.
Dexter,TenDoescat,Flower.... we'll be the new Direby.

Dexter's not a bad player - and I think he's put his eggs into the England basket, so he's not even a real Koplakker.
Re: The which is the latest pile of carp to get a contract?!?
Afzaal probably belongs at Surrey from what I remember of his England career. Should be a good replacement for Ali Brown who must be on his way out.
We've lost Hamilton-Brown, hugely promising (apparently) but did very little for the 'rey part from adding a double-barrelled name to the team-sheet (which isn't to be sniffed at).
Richard Dawson eh? There's a story. He was genuinely incredibly promising at one point. What went wrong? Intensive coaching by Kevin Shine perhaps?

Another rumoured to be on his way to Chelmsford.
Hope not, looked to be on his last legs as a player this season...

Probably younger than Ramps- might need a new challenge, been doing the same old run-a-ball biffing for years. Played one apocalyptic innings at the top of the season but that was about it. Hope he has one good year left.
What's the story with the Essex captaincy?

Doing a Lardy here.
Interesting to see how all these also rands have done.
Seems JK's lot have done alright out of Masters and Gallian.
Danny's lot got what they expected, although O'Briens done ok I think.
Have to laugh at the Derbyshoite lot, Clarke has been dreadful!!
Anymore for anymore.

We don't have enough players.
We've currently recruited the class that is:
Jason Gallian, David Masters & Chris Wright.
I'm not going to slate Wright just for the sake of it - on paper his record looks utter gash.
I remember us signing Peter Such from Leics, always thinking he was a piece of sheite. However he won us a couple of titles and went on to play for England.
Gallian's been average in FC cricket - 607 runs @ 26 but top stuff in the one day games.
Masters has been a medium paced monster! 41 FC wkts @ 21 also good in one day stuff.
Even Wright has surprised me - 20 Fc wkts@ 24
Is this thread really a year old? Where did that time go....

I have no idea, but was doing a Lardy and thought comments would be interesting.
Danny's predictions weren't wrong!
PJ's not sure about Porterfield etc....
Anymore for anymore updates from a year ago?

North was awesome. And Porterfield is a work in progress. Will be a rock at the top of the order in a few seasons.

And I'm not sure JJ Lewis has or will ever play for Gloucs.
And yes, Niall O'Brien exceeded everyone's expectations. Including his own.

Why, because J Lewis calls himself JJ Lewis?

I knew a Smith at school and he was called poo-finger.
Because it was alleged that his sexually inexperienced self once tried to finger a girl and got it all wrong - lost his bearings.
Kids, eh? What a bunch of dicks...

Simon Jones: 42 wickets @ 18.02
Gareth Andrew: 21 wickets @ 42.52
Chris Whelan: 5 wickets @ 59.60
Messrs Whelan and Andrew have a lot to prove.
