He was hyped up like no other int'l fast bowler that I can remember.

Great fast bowler my arse.

Clowns. Don't know where I was, but it's a real shame I didn't write on this thread because ever since 04/05 I thought this lad would be the business - the real deal. I thought it when he was getting smashed all over the park by us, he just had something about him that said we wouldn't be smashing him his whole career... someone like Lee on the other hand... I thought if he played another 20 Ashes Tests he'd still be the bumbling fool he's always been.
Anyway, good judgement chaps... way to kneejerk.

Goodness me. Some of the worst tripe ever committed to the bails displayed in this thread.
Fantastic find, lardy. For once I approve.

Can't believe those quotes are talking about the bloke who will probably be regarded as the finest fast bowler of his generation.

And really, I think that was the point many were making. At the time of the comments, he hadn't.
And we've all heard the line about hindsight and 20/20 vision.

I wonder if Philander will be the antithesis of Stain?

Hehe yeah.skully wrote:I wonder if Philander will be the antithesis of Stain?
Would be funny if the Philander thread is brought back in 3 years after Philander has ended up with a 40 average over that period.

Re: Is Steyn a one year wonder?
Not that I'm saying I think that will happen incidentally. From what I've seen he looks decent.

I reckon this Tendulkar chap might be quite a good batsman ... nearly as good as Lara, perhaps.

Um no, if you claim actual stats are hindsight, it makes a bit of a mockery of your life.
