From previous explorations Rik E Boy (ex ABC), Noodles, Ross, and the Hypnotoad (all ex ABC) have been on the Big Footy Cricket forum. I think Zimmie has slummed it there in the past as well.

Just been sampling the literary efforts of BF leading light? 'Demosthenes' re the 'over-rated' Pat Cummins in 2017. (I suppose the use of the word 'over-rated' should have warned me, even if I had missed the red flag of him calling himself Demosthenes.) In any case, got bored after Page 3, we've just got to the MCG Test of Ashes 17-18, and there's only 22 pages to go.

Makes VoR sound like Mute Mal Junior, and I note that since those days his AFL team has won a flag which means he's now probably even worse. Horrie, is this bloke still part of the BF furniture?

I have an account with Big Footy (as Fred Yeomans) but I just checked & found I haven't posted there since 2007.

Actually the BF cricket forum doesn't look too bad, although I did feel a bit like the new kid at the big school all of a sudden.

I felt the same way, Nerkles.

Lots of posts required to gain some modicum of respect from the BF old-timers.

I note a regular poster there is Grand Uncle Horace (yeah, our horrie - even has a very similar avatar). Perhaps he could give us feedback on the potential for an influx of us.

Then again, I'm not sure our few remaining UK posters would feel like drifting over to an Aussie Football forum with a Cricket sub Forum.

One drawback - the place is heavily infested with Vomits (well, it is BigFooty) and, seemingly, Pinkos.

Perhaps we'll just keep limping along here.
Does “footy” mean Aussie No Rules, Fake Rugby (league) or the proper stuff with a round ball? Wink

As far as I can tell, all of the above....not sure how a) active or b) committed to the Socratic ideal particular sub-forums may be, but they do exist.

Roy Keane might have been quite handy at No Rules Wink

I’d avoid that section anyway as I don’t know my Collingwood from my… actually, they’re the only team whose name I can recall. You’ll probably tell me they’re actually a RL team…

These days I'd be right, if RL stood for Really Lousy or Really Laughable.

Roy Keane's style of 'life is tough and so am I' chest-thumping was 'sanitised' out of the game (as the past-player mafia and the assorted Social Bloody Media comments clownage will whinge incessantly) a generation ago.

These days I just about absolutely avoid any mix of the AFL and the SBM. It's one of the strategies I have to protect whatever GAF I still have about the competition during COVID. So no, if I go to BigFooty, I'll be sticking to cricket.

April 2022 is on track to break the FB low water mark for posts (324). Currently the posts for the month sits on 169. Sad

No cricket, so hardly surprising.

Im watching it

This Buttler bloke would have been handy for the Poms if he played in the Ashes

maybe instead of a Dukes ball they play with a white ball in the next series

I did notice in the Northpants v Sheepbotheters match that every wicket in one innings fell to a Sheffield Shield bowler ... Hogan, Labuschagne, van der Gugten. Wondered if that might be unique.

Albert Trott took 10-42 for Middlesex v Somerset in 1900.

Although he had moved to England and was playing for England so was probably not an active Shield player at the time.

Same as the example I noted then; neither Hogan nor van der Gugten have played Shield for a good while. Neser was the other bowler in my example.

Incidentally, Hogan may be the closest amongst Australians to emulating Siddle’s recent attainment of 200 FC matches.
