Re: Jesus, this place is dead...
Excellent day on the Wilderness Railway from Queenstown yesty.
Then saw Aus's longest running play "The Ship that never was" on the Strahan foreshore.
Wonderful 2 days/3 nights in Strahan.
Off to Hobart this morning.

1st time I've driven down Hume from border. Great trip until we hit the festering outer northern suburbs of Melbourne. Bit of a cesspit.
Not wrong Narelle.....as a first ground-level view of Melbourne for visitors straight off the plane or the highway, the notorious 'Broady' and Fawkner (pop: 100.000, roughly 10,000 of whom 'live' there) are just not Epping good enough.

Should have been a great drive down the Derwent Valley.

Yup, it was.
A bit crap for the backseat passengers from Strahan to Derwent Bridge (very fooking windy ) but from there on it was a great trip. The Wall was great at Derwent Bridge.
Arrived on Hobart at 6.30 pm. Off on the Tasman Island experience then Richmond in the arvo tomoz, MONA on Fri, brekky and markets at Salamanca on Sat morning, then off to Freycinet Resort on Sat arvo.
Grouse trip so far.

Excellent 3 hour jet boat adventure north from Port Arthur up to Eaglehawk Neck today.
Plenty of local sea wildlife, including breaching whales, various species of fur seal, and numerous bleedin' sea birds.
Off Mt Wellington then MONA tomoz.

Everyone goes up Mt Wellington but you’re will get a more intimate and engaging view from the top of Mt Nelson, which you can access from your lodgings inside 20 mins. Great view from the upper Derwent Valley right down to the Tasman Peninsula and South to Bruny Island. Nice cafe at the old signal station too.

Re: Jesus, this place is dead...
As an engineer MONA was an eye-opening construction achievement, but I thought it would be bigger, art-wise.
We knocked it over in about 2 hours having allowed much more. We caught the 3pm ferry back to Hobart CBD when initially booked on the 5pm.
Still, we saw the Wall of Vjayjays. It was interesting watching the reactions of the many ladies that viewed it.
All-in-all, MONA was a worthwhile experience.

Re: Jesus, this place is dead...
Well you’d have had time to do the shorter trip for the better view ...
Mona is way over-rated; while the building is quite clever, and the winery there was once significant, the craft beer is nothing special and much of the ‘art’ is puerile. The Great Wall of Vagina isn’t original, amusing, or interesting. It’s a sculptural shaggy dog story and pun.

Re: Jesus, this place is dead...
Returned on the Spirit of Tassie from Devonport tonight after a most brilliant 2 week holiday with friends.
Excellent weather the whole time. Currently having lunch in a nice little village called Delorain about 40 mins from our destination.
We will be back.

I couldn't find the "Football 2021/22 season" topic so I'll put this here to save paper opening a new thread.
What a finish!
Manchester City down 0-2 with 15 minutes left to play, scored 3 goals in 5 minutes to win the title!

Apologies if anyone was planning to watch the replay without knowing the result. I should have started a new thread.

How did they make up? Did he confess to his horrific racist outburst and receive forgiveness from the man himself?

Re: Jesus, this place is dead...
Apparently, yeah, something very like that.
Roy told the story to Crash and it has been aired many times. He and the TurdintheTurban found themselves playing in the same IPL team only months after the ruckus, and TintheT apologised, with tears and the whole schemozzle, after the first couple of matches and since then they've conducted coaching clinics together and Roy has even tried to teach Harbs to fish (surprisingly unsuccessfully)

Re: Jesus, this place is dead...
I've kept a record of the monthly post count since Sept 2010. The last time June had >7,000 posts was June 2011 (9,572).
Within this record, only 3 months (Mar, Jul & Aug 2011) have more than 10,000 posts. And since Mar 2019 there have only been 4 months (Aug & Sep 2019, Dec 2020 & Jan 2021) that have exceeded 1,000 posts.
