As the snooty waiter said in Ferris Beuller's Day Off...

I weep for the future.

TBF, the u-19 must be really under-strength as most of the other sides would have kept the more promising youngsters for themselves. Or have I got it wrong?

The Under 19's took precedence over their regional team so they should be at full strength.

They have had extremely poor preperation in comparison to the other sides, their best 2 batsmen are injured, they have a dreadful coach in David Moore and they have rotated the teams so every member of the 20 man squad can get a game.

As a result they have been nowhere near full strength.

Semi finals to be played in Barbados are:

Jamaica v Guyana

T & T v Barbados

Leeward Islands beat the under 19's by 5 wicketsd with only 2 overs to spare. The youngsters were bowled out for 150 odd but Jason Dawes bowled at express pace and took 3 quick wickets. He looks like the real deal.

Sounds too much like Joe Dawes for him to be any good.

Yep the pitches in Guyana are suiting the slow medium bowlers as the ball really slows up and becomes difficult to put away if you bowl a reasonable line and length so I wont read much into his bowling.

His batting has been solid if unspectacular.

His fielding has truly been great though. I didn't realise he was such an amazing fielder, he has run out 3 people in this tournament with direct hits.

Jamaica crushed Guyana by 7 wickets in the first semi-final.

Shaun Findlay got 66 not out while Brendan Nash took 4 wickets with his left arm medium dobblers. Having seen the highlights, he actually bowled pretty well and got the ball to move around a fair bit. He got a direct hit with a brilliant piece of fielding for the 4th match in a row.

Gayle's captaincy was superb, very encouraging. Jamaica have been rubbish over the last 2 years but Gayle has brought them together. Guyana were pretty rubbish though as they have very poor bowling stocks and both Sarwan and Chanderpaul were out injured.

Star????

He has failed with the bat so far. His bowling has been good against some poor opponents and his fielding has always been brilliant according to the Aussie press.

He will have to score some runs in the final on Sunday to grab anybodys attention.

Nash is in at the moment. It's his first real chance at grinding out a major innings as Jamaica are 40/2.

Lets see how he goes.

Gone for 15 (32)

Brilliantly caught at slip, but he looked really crab like.

Jamaica won the KFC cup thanks to an excellent innings from Parchment, brilliant bowling from Jerome Taylor and great captaincy from Chris Gayle.

Nash was named best bowler of the tournament which is a bit of a joke as Taylor is back to his best and took the most wickets.

Ah well!
