Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 2nd Test, Colombo, July 12-16
last session
pak - 26/8 in 15.4 overs
sl - 41/0 in 6 overs
has there been a more lop-sided session of test cricket?

Aust scoring about 220 between lunch and tea against Zimbabwe in 03 - both Gilly and Hayden scored tons in a session.
I think this match tops that though.

Pakistan is the only team in the world even if they are 300 for 1 next batsman is still under pressure ...

Well Played SL.
About PAK there batting always been a problem and we always lose matches because of poor batting.
I feel they should include proper batsman in place of Shoaib Malik and Abdul Razzak or Kaneria should be in the team in place of Abdur Rauf.
Anyways they had to lose this series to fix the problems in the team and the T20 win was totaly different thing this is the real cricket and they should be more prepared with better team selection next time.

Pak - Better win next test or you'll have to wait really really long to register a test win.

This is SL's first ever test series win over Pak at home.
Incredible really considering their impregnable record at home.

Also, this is only the 5th test SL has won in Murali's absence since his debut.

Pak is mercurial alright. It's just that the mercury is now dipping lower. No way could any team lose a test from the second innings first wicket position they were in...

I wonder if Yunus Khan will demand lower IPL salaries for the Pakist players now, given their performance ?

Younis Khan's gems,
Speaking after a game in which Pakistan's batting collapses tilted the balance towards Sri Lanka, Younis said he didn't want to put blame on any individual - the team was lacking by just 20%
How could anyone quantify or be as precise about lack of effort by Pak as Younis is anybody's guess.

Another one,
"But how many Tests have we played in the last 14 months? For one full year we didn't play at all. As and when we start playing more regularly, we will learn to adapt. I think it's not about the technique, not about the bowling, not about the weather.
But didn't he before the start of this series had said that being undercooked should not be an excuse for international teams.

sometimes 20% & at other times 400%, it's all a question of percents.

Re: Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 2nd Test, Colombo, July 12-16
This was a hilarious test match.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat.
Then they get bowled out in just a session and a half, for 90.
SL takes control and ends the day at 160 odd for 3.
Pakistan fights back the next day and gets Lanka all out for just 240 in a little more than a session.
Then Pak takes control and ends the day at 180 something for the loss of just one wicket.
They dominate the morning session too with score at 285/1
Then comes the dramatic collapse yet again, getting all out at just 320.
Lanka chases down the target without any discomfort.
Never seen such a match where fortune changed everyday and that too so dramatically.

How crap is Pak Cricket team? Even the Bangars would have bagged the rubber 2-0 against them. Pak fans don't deserve this at all...

They're not that bad. They have some quality players in there. They are just blighted by their countries image of perennial underachievers. Like SA being chokers.

What a strange test match that was. Extreme ebbs and flows. Pakistan really are baffling.

As Younus said we were not beaten we lost these matches because of our pathetic performance.
I saw his interview on Local TV Channel where he said what should i do now? Step down he said some body have to come forward and fix these problems.
He also said if the middle order didnt start performing i think we have to make some changes in the future games and the senior guys know this.

I think they should replace Misbah with Umar Akmal, and Shoaib Malik with Afridi.

There is a strong believe with in the cricketing community of Pakistan that includes former players like Inzamam Abdul Qadir, Sarfraz Nawaz and few others that there is a clear grouping in the team.
Shoaib Malik got Misbah, Salman Butt, and Kamran Akmal on his side and they are not going to perform much under Younus Khan.
Now i have heard that before this test Malik was offered the opening slot which he refused, because there are no other openers in the team so his friend Salman will not be dropped but Younus went for Fawad Alam.
The way team lost it left allot of doubt among people and if it was all not true than why former chief Selector said that he wanted to drop Malik because of this grouping.

Groupism and intra-player politics in the Pak team? Now who would thought of it?
The history is a bit rich in there isn't it?

God, the irony is so thick it could have been laid on with a trowel.
