Why do British people carpet their bathrooms?

Purely a guess, as I've never been to Britain... To prevent accidents in winter? I've been told by a guy that it can get so cold that, standing barefoot on the floor, he doesn't know which goose-pimple to employ...

Never understood it either. We ripped out the carpet in ours.

My old flat had a carpetted loo when i moved in. It stunk. I ripped it out and put some vinyl dfown instead.

Toilet facilities are generally free. Also in town there are many free public toilets.

Something positive to be said for both you and us. It's in the tropics where the food is throbbing with Shigella, Salmonella, Giardia, and other names that sound like the girls of a family that live in a trailer park, that they catch you with a fee. (In most of those cases they expect you to perch with your feet on the side of the seat, too...)

In those days our kiddies' library had several pay toilets and one you could use for free - but its door came only halfway up. You had to be pretty desperate and totally broke...

Free public toilets reek.

I have this weird thing about Pub toilets too. If i'm on hols around the country and fancy a pub lunch I generally check their toilets out first.

If they are piss stained and there for the public to see imagine what their kitchen is like!

At least you get proper loo roll now and not tracing paper.

Even if the loo reeks, vinyl may not quite be an adequate replacement.
