Trolling on Flaming Bails
Has the art of trolling been lost with the amount of 'acceptable' troll material floating around on Flaming Bails?
Accepted trolls; such as Horrie, sort of makes the art of being a troll, dare I say it, redundant. Sidhu appears to be the only out and out troll currently on the roster, and he's caused uproar amongst some of the regular posters. I remember the day's when I was classed as a 'Troll'. Now, I suppose even my most unusual and obscene post's are understood and given a fair shot.
At the other end of the spectrum there are the players like PeterCS, whom some have found impossible to understand due to his elegant and unique style of posting, which sometimes even has the most intelligent forummers in a bit quandary.(This in regards to replying with someone other than...)
As it stands neither PeterCS, Horace or myself are trolls because of the close community that Flaming Bails II has formed since it's beginnings in August 2007. Basically, drivel is acceptable.
And then there's Buckaroo.....

I think its a fair point to mention that most of the stuff written on FB would not be acceptable on other forums worldwide, per say.

The art is still there, it's just that you have to be cleverer about it.
Horace just goes on with the same inane drivel and nobody takes any notice anymore.
Having said that, JKL can't help himself and will bite at anything and all you have to do is say Saffie's are {insert something negative} and taipan will fly in boots and all.

aye, being called a jizz-swilling dead bloke whacker-offerer would be considered offensive in most places, but get it here and you just think what an interesting turn of phrase Danny posseses.

Re: Trolling on Flaming Bails
Turn of phrase or turn of stomach...?
Also, discussing 'a bad day for certain celebrities' would get you in a bit of hot water, whichever forum your on. Especially one's which are more advertised and given increased public exposure.
In places where you have new people joining everyday (i.e. C4), you would find it hard to get over the ravenous reaction, even if the ED does come to the party late enough for people to read the thread in question (before it gets cut). In FB, we seem to have a 'moving-on policy' in regards to particular error's/ mistakes from posters.
FB is a bit of a hidden gem; but once you find it, it's good times all-round!

Re: Trolling on Flaming Bails
I am surprised to be classed as a troll...I like to engage in a bit of debating about players or teams...those that disagree are fine by me...just because I disagree with the repetitious infered support offered by skully, RD, zim and Zat for Hilditch over Hodge's treatment- does not mean they are trolls

They're very good at dishing it out but when some comes back their way they certainly do get nasty!
Very sad.

No I don't!!! Who said, WTF are you tal.......... oh, yeah.
Mainly Zimmy though, simply because most of his trolling deserves a snotty reply. 'Paul' is another who is a bit of a troller on the side...

Paul Keating? Salim? Nah... yer jorkun (nice geordie accent there).
It's a good point that Smerk raises... with all the bits and bobs that have flown round, I expect we all have gotten desensitised to it.

Re: Trolling on Flaming Bails
In real life I would of course be insulted, especially if those things were said by anyone who knew me or had ever met me. The point about a forum is that it's so easy to say nasty things about others, knowing they can't really do anything about it. Therefore there is absolutely no point getting offended. As far as Brarse-Monkey goes, I don't genuinely think he has a particularly brilliant turn of phrase. For some reason he was having a little tantrum about the popularity of my things-of-no-interest-to-anyone-else thread, but as he's only a bored little schmuck banging away on his computer keyboard for want of better things to do (much like the rest of us) I'd rather humour him than rise to his drivelling bait.G.Wood wrote:DJ_Smerk wrote:

PS Not that it matters, but "narcissistic" has nothing to do with doing things to dead blokes

Re: Trolling on Flaming Bails
Mmmm-hmmm, I wholeheartedly agree with you... to the last letter. I expect the point being that you wouldn't be such a boring little shit in real life that you'd go around to a group of people you've barely met annoncing that that you had fish and chippies for dinner tonight. It's funny how you 'haven't taken offence' yet you started a thread quoting one of the things I've said and that you're carrying on now.
So there's the hypothetical - in real life if you'd been droning on like some cracked Five Star record about your lunch, about your dinner etc. No, I wouldn't have called you whatever I did, I'd have just called you a boring twat and told you to get over your self-importance.
But, to reply to some other wanky comment you made - I don't hate you.

Re: Trolling on Flaming Bails
How is this not real life? It's not unreal. Just because you're not getting insulted in person doesn't make you any less insulted. The difference is some people's bollocks are bigger behind a keyboard because they know they can't get a punch on the nose.

I wouldn't fight anyone on the forum.
A) I'd probably lose.
B) Where does fighting get us....(check Iraq war)
C) I would have a pint with most people on here, despite not knowing them..

I wasn't advocating violence, Smerky - I abhor it. I just meant that it's easy to come out with derogatory remarks when there's no fear of retribution.
