Re: John Howard to be next VP of ICC
CA has come up with a very clever solution, indeed a graceful solution where Cricket Australia saves face and doesn't cave, Howard is still CA's preferred nominee, the Kiwi candidate gets the job, and the anti-white racists on the ICC are left looking petty and small..
Cricket Australia Press Scribe wrote:Cricket Australia Board declines to make new ICC Vice Presidential nomination
Cricket Australia’s Board has today re-affirmed that former Australian Prime Minister John Howard is the best candidate available for nomination for the position of Vice President of the ICC and has decided it will not consider suggesting any other names for the role.
New Zealand Cricket has proposed its chairman, eminent businessman and corporate governance practitioner, Mr Alan Isaac, for the role and CA will now support that nomination.
CA's Board today resolved:
That the board unanimously reaffirms the credentials of The Honourable John Howard AC to be the Australian and New Zealand nominee for the position of ICC Vice President. The board is disappointed and most concerned by the ICC Executive Board's lack of support of his nomination and regards it as completely unacceptable that no reason has been provided as to why he has not been accepted.
In the circumstances, the CA Board is not prepared to nominate any other candidate for the role.
The CA Board accepts that the New Zealand nominee, Mr Alan Isaac, is eminently qualified to fill the role of ICC Vice President and President, and given the stance of the ICC Executive Board with the nomination of Mr Howard, will support his name being forwarded to the ICC for ratification.
CA Chairman Jack Clarke said the CA Board remained disappointed that the joint Australia-New Zealand nomination of Mr Howard had not been supported by the ICC Board, particularly as Australia and New Zealand had complied with the rotational ICC Vice Presidential nomination process.
“We still have been given no official reason why a strongly-credentialed candidate of Mr Howard’s qualification’s, skill and stature was not supported,” he said.
“Our Directors were today very strongly of the view that Mr Howard continues to be the best candidate CA could nominate.
“We are not prepared to suggest another candidate but given it is clear Mr Howard will not be supported, we clearly have to consider a new approach.
“Accordingly, we are pleased to support New Zealand Cricket’s suggestion that Alan Isaac be nominated for the role.
“Alan has a strong cricket and sporting administrative background but the relevant benefit he brings to the table is his strong record as an expert practitioner and adviser in organisational governance and his business and financial acumen.
Mr Clarke noted that CA had approached Mr Howard to consider the role of ICC Vice President and remained grateful to him that he had been willing to accept Australia and NZ cricket’s invitation to offer his skills to global cricket.
