Re: England v Pakistan, 1st Test, Trent Bridge, July 29-Aug 2, 2010
Pakistan would be making a mistake bringing Yousuf back, though. Younis maybe, but Yousuf is 36 and it's time to move on.
You know, i'm not really sure that in these conditions they would have both excelled. Yousuf in particular has always had the hint of an FTB about him. Younis is either in great form or terrible form. No in-between ground with him.
England are simply the best side in the world at playing swing bowling, even if they're one of the worst sides in the world at cashing in on flat tracks. Let's not forget that Aus were bundled out for 88 by Pakistan in similar conditions just a week back.

Overhead conditions maybe Trev, but this deck wasn't a green seamer like Headingley. Stoopid Drunky.

Would generally agree but they strugged at the Wanderers earlier this year on a greentop and also at Leeds and Edgbaston against the Saffers in 2008. Also were bowled out for just over a hundred by the Aussies during last year's Ashes. The pommie top order struggled but the lower order rescued them when the bowlers tired and the ball got softer.
Aussies struggle a tad against swing but Punter compounds this by always bowling first and subjecting his batsmen to the most feral conditions. Had Pakistan been inserted at Sydney and Leeds, they wouldn't have been in with a chance of winning either match after day one.

How God Awful are the Paksters??
Seems they have no heart for the battle. They've had their one moment of glory in the English summer now they just want to go home.
And yes, it does reflect badly on Aus.

That's a pretty clinical clean-up by Jimmy and Finn. 11-71 by Jimmy in the match. When was the previous best performance by a seamer in England? AD?

I wonder where Kamran Akmal's performance in this match would rate amongst the all-time worst Test Match performances by wicket-keeper batsmen. Most Test wicket-keepers have at least one forte, be it in the form of keeping or batting, but Akmal, other than on flat sub-continental pitches, has shown little skill in either. I suspect that the only time there has been a worse effort than his over the last four days in Test Match history is during another of his performances. He's like the guy at the arcade who has all the top scores.

Fark if his brother protests at the exclusion of Kamran for the next test, fark him and fark them both.
Both worthless beings.

It's so disheartening to watch the batting crumble like that, there was no heart or desire to even put up a fight, only Asif & Amir showed any guts in the team. I mean i do concede the batting is sh!te but 80 odd all out is not on, i mean really.

Pretty comprehensive then. Was unbeleiveable that stat showing that the Bangladeshi batsmen have better averages FFS.
Pakistan are still dangerous however, in better conditions if their batting can put up any sort of score they have the attack to cause problems. Why they don't split the two noobs up at 3 and 4 by putting Malik between them I don't know.
James Anderson's average is coming down. 176 test wickets @ 32.52 - was stuck at 34/5 for ages.

I actually thought young Mohammed Amir showed the batsmen a thing or two as well, don't think he's got lots of ability with the bat but dug in both innings.

Mikey Holding in 76 (14/149)
or Fred Trueman in 63 for a Pom (12/119)
Harmless , Kiwi Nashy , Fot and Beefy all have 11 fors but for more than 71

What a Yousless batting lineup
Anderson was brilliant though his LATE swing is just too good.

And the sad part is that Anderson isn't really that good a bowler.

tapis
In swinging conditions he is as good as any
Cant get better than some one bowling at 90 mph with LATE swing and decent accuracy
He is my favorite cricketer in the English team so no shame in losing to Jimmy BUT the fact that they LOST with out putting up a FIGHT is very shameful

Steyn is even better in swinging conditions.
Jimmy averages about 32. He's a one trick pony
