Re: The Commonwealth Games
From AAP...
Looks like the COARIAB thing is contagious.Australia's oldest athlete at the Delhi Commonwealth Games has missed out on a shooting medal after shooting at the wrong target.
Michelangelo Giustiniano finished equal third with three other shooters in Sunday's men's 25 metre centrefire pistol event, but high drama in the five-shot shoot-off for bronze ended with the 57-year-old leaving empty-handed.
Giustiniano shot at the target of his opponent next to him, leaving him with a score of 0 and in sixth place.
Advertisement: Story continues below Singapore's Lip Meng Poh, whose target Giustiniano mistakenly shot at, registered the best of Giustiniano's shots in his score of 49 out of 50, and won the shoot-off to take bronze.
"I'm gutted, that's the best way to describe it," Giustiniano said.
"The result of the whole thing is I've put my shots on the target of the guy next to me.
"Obviously when I lined up on the target I lined up on the wrong one.
"I feel it's unbelievable that I, on the first bay (of the range) would not line up on the first target. But all the electronic results show that I fired on the second target.
"Basically what happens is he gets the best of 10 shots, and I get nothing."
Giustiniano was already under pressure heading into the shoot-off as he had just 10 bullets left in his kit, and shooters are unable to buy ammunition at Delhi's Karni Singh Shooting Range.
Because of the shortage Giustiniano decided to shoot blanks in the warm up for the shoot-off, causing some confusion amongst the officials and spectators.

Re: The Commonwealth Games
I think he got the points from the best 5 shots, with the other five being mystery holes in the target. But what there is to then stop a bloke firing twenty shots instead of five into his own target, or into someone else's target, just to cause confusion, is a bit beyond me. Then again, I've been watching Bathurst and the Japan F1GP and having a few beers today...

Re: The Commonwealth Games
The Nigerian chick that was elevated to Gold after Sally Pearson was rissolled in the 100 m has tested positives to drugs. The original Bronze medallist is now likely to get the Gold.
"THE Nigerian athlete who claimed gold after Sally Pearson's disqualification has tested positive for a banned substance.
Commonwealth Games chief Mike Fennell confirmed the result of Osayemi Oludamola's A sample this afternoon and said he was disappointed to hear the news that the Nigerian had tested positive.
“We have conducted over 950 tests and we have results from over 700 tests,” Fennell said. “Unfortunately, I have to record we have a positive test."
----------------------------------------------------------
And the whinging Pom will now get Silver.

Our Sally wins the 100m hurdles.
Shame about the sprint - I don't recall anyway winning golds in both at the CG before.
