PC/Console games

So what are you all into (if you are) at the moment?

Got my hands on an Xbox360, my first top notch console for ages so out of the loop a bit. What are the supposed top notch games atm?

Did God of War, any of the three, come out in X-box? Brilliant game.

There hasn't even been a next-gen God of War yet - incredible series of games though.

If you ask me, there haven't been many great next-gen games on either console. The only one I'd recommend is BioShock, though I think you can get Monkey Island on 360 now (on XBox Live?) which would be awesome. Awesome.

I had a PS2, so I'd rate both the first GoWs pretty high, only played bits of the 3rd in a friend's house, but that also seemed on par.

Played the original monkey island game. loved it.

You can, but its just a spruced up version of the original.

I tell you the problem with games nowadays - they're nearly all shooters (or medieval weaponry-ers). Shoot this, kill that. There are few clever RPGs, nothing like Ico that was just a bit different. It's all a bit dull if you be aksin' me.

You could get that new crikit game but it's probably w@nk. Like all crikit games. Apart from Stick Cricket.

Cricket or football games are stupid and boring, FIFA 0whatever can only be tolerated in multiplayer mode. same for racing games after the first 2-3 hours or so.

I've got Fallout 3 - played a little bit and looks quite good. Thing is, who over the age of 16 has the time to spend playing 8 hour games sessions?

Downloaded the demo. Made 40-3 off 2 overs. Bollocks. It is...

God of War 3 will be out on the PS3 soon - looks really brutal. More than the previous games. Have a look at some videos from E3.

The game i'm looking forward to most is Uncharted 2 on PS3 but until then i'm still playing Killzone2 and Warhawk. Can't think of much on the 360 that i'm interested in at the moment which i only seem to use for FIFA and Street Fighter IV.

Well obviously I'm far too grown up to be playing video games but when I'm forced to play my Xbox 360, the games I've found tolerable are Bioshock as mentioned (just an amazingly well imagined immersive first person shooter), Assassin's Creed (bit repetitive but I liked its vibe) and a smattering of team deathmatch on Call of Duty 4. Braid & Portal are also wonderfully conceived games.

The latest GTA iteration was fun, but most of the time my PS3 sits there as a Bluray player.

If I see the Ashes thing going cheap I might buy it for a bit of a larf...

I have a love-hate relationship with Bioshock. It's a great FPS - the attention to detail is amazing - but it forced me to buy a new graphics card which was, frankly, an ordeal as I got two faulty cards: one that kept overheating and crashing, and the replacement which had the fan stuck at 100% and made my computer sound like a moped.

It looks half decent and I've heard good reviews.


As for The Ashes 2009. Avoid. Looks awful. Graphically and gameplay.

Have you got COD4? if you like online play then thats the game for you,they don't get much better than that.

Never really got into the modern stuff tbh, more the ww2 online games. Last COD I bought was 3, didn't like the linear action but I wasn't able to get online then.

If Call of Duty had aliems, lots of lasers, weird red and green skys and spaceships, it would be halfway towards being a good game. All we'd need then would be to call the aliems buggers, add in a few tweaky bits, and we can call it Ender's Game and have lots of fun with it.
