Australia v Sri Lanka, t20i, Perth, October 31
Australian squad:
Michael Clarke (c) NSW
Cameron White (vc) VIC
Brad Haddin NSW
John Hastings VIC
David Hussey VIC
Clint McKay VIC
Dirk Nannes VIC
Stephen O’Keefe NSW
Peter Siddle VIC
Steve Smith NSW
David Warner NSW
Shane Watson NSW
Try telling me Clarke isn't the odd one out there. Can your captain be 12th man?
And is Hodge sooking it up somewhere again?

How long before the big cheese Rikkis this one up? Probably have to wait until reasonable European morning time.

The two blue States were very strong through the 50s and 60s so maybe a Test side back in that era might have only had Spivs and Viles. The 80s included lots of Wozzies. Not much time to look at the mo.JGK wrote:horace wrote:skully - there must be a good trivia question here - when was the last time an australian criket team only players from two states

If it were a Test team, or a ODI team, then the question might be worth ivestigating, but for a t20..?skully wrote:The two blue States were very strong through the 50s and 60s so maybe a Test side back in that era might have only had Spivs and Viles. for a period in the 50s and 60s the chips had the keeper position sewn up via the incomparable Don Tallon and Wally Grout...plus they also had slasher Mackay regulalrly selected...the jellies in the 50s and early 60s did not have many - Favell comes to mind

didn't even rate a mention on the news. Not even after the Shield update which was the last story on the sports bulletin.

Crikey, the Yarps and those wacky Paksters cram in 2 x T20s and a JAMODI before we get to this game.

The last time that Australia was represented by two states, apparently was in a test in 1977. WA was a dominant force then.

I have to say that I would find that hard to believe. Pre WSC, Marsh, G Chappell and Dougie played just about every test we played. That's 3 states there.
Post WSC, Hughes, Wood, Dyson and Thommo played a stack of tests together.

I'm not looking forward to hearing the channel nine commentary again, with an over enthusiastic Nicholas, Slater, and Healy screaming pro-Australian rhetoric into their microphones.
"Heeeee's got him! Oh Peter Siddle, you ARE a boy, aren't you! You little beauty..."
Urgh.

I can't find it. I went through 76/77, 1977 and 77/78 and none of the Aus Test sides had players from only 2 States.Red wrote:The last time that Australia was represented by two states, apparently was in a test in 1977. WA was a dominant force then.

In 1981 vs the Paks we had 7 Wozzies and 3 Billies ...a useless Vomit played in the first Test and a dubber who later played for the Billies played in the second and third Test
