We have more immigrants from the UK than anywhere so it's hardly surprising. Many of the locals have joined up with the Barmy Army. I love the BA btw, would love a support group like that every year - it adds colour and creates a convivial atmosphere.
Another typical Aussie morning. Siddle gifts Swann with his wicket after playing with determination, Hilfenhaus doesn't move his feet and his demise was symptomatic of his meagre contribution to the campaign and Beer didn't whet the appetite as expected. Smith got his fifty but half his shots looked more suited to a T20 than the test match. Hard to know whether this bodes well for a career as a specialist batsman at the elite level.
Congratulations to England, they were too good in all on-field and off-field departments.
The only good to come out of this is that surely before any other future Ashes series, everyone involved in Aussie cricket will look more thoroughly at all facets of our preparation etc.

Chappellg would be used to it having coached India so make sure on your includes: Sutherland, Hildick, Boon, Cox, CLARKE, HILFENHAUS, Hughes, Johnson, Nought, Punter, DOHERTY, Bollinger and Watson's running between wickets.

hmmn...ta...should be a zimmy like conflagration...had forgotten bollybogan...
his effort at Adelaide was the worst performance of the summer....he turned up kegs overweight (too much kfc?) and failed to try...was also noisy in the mesdia when not selected for brisbane and then whinged about chopping and changing selection when he got dropped....surely his papers must be permanently marked - unless he goes on a Princess fat fergie type diet

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Just got back from the SCG where it was great to meet Zat. A little bit pissed, but very, very happy. Smith and Siddle were fighting hard, and the rain came and went, but was happy to be jumping up and down with 15,000 English supporters when Trembers took the final wicket.
I admit there was a tear in my eye when Colly did his lap of honour. Such a great servant of English cricket. The image of him holding his England cap aloft to the crowd, then kissing it, sent shivers down the spine.
The urn is safe for 2 1/2 more years. Enjoy it!

Fair play to Zat for going too, didn't see many Aussie fans there.

The only Aussie supporters there seemed to be in the Members Stand, where I was briefly with Zat. I can confirm that Zat GENUINELY thinks Ian Bell is a top batsman, and his thread wasn't just a wind up, which surprised me.
Lot's of talk amongst Aussie supporters about where the side goes from here. I just hope they remember that cricket dominance goes in cycles and their time will come again (although hopefully not for at least another 10 years!). It could be a long road but remember these bad times (as English supporters did in the 90s) and your next major triumph will be all the more sweeter.
I've really got a good feeling about this England team under Strauss and Flower. You can't help but think they are never satisfied. Hopefully we can push really hard for that number 1 spot now.

Onwards and upwards. First of all the WC and then S/L and India at home. The Indian series could be a classic.

I expect the series with the mumu'ites will be interesting too...england should win that series but it is likely to be close...
suggest the pom curators have already been told to keep the snow on the pitches to keep some juice in for the bannie series..just what the bannies deserve
unlikely as it seems I cannot see myself barracking for the Bannies (as I once would have) but doubt I will actively barrack for the Poms either...

You are now aware that England will not be dug out of a hole by Collingwood, during the First Test between England and Sri Lanka in Cardiff

By the way, Australia had 11 batsman reach 30 in this and not a single one got past 54.
WTF is the batting coach doing?

Funniest moment of the day- Mark nNicholas asked Cook why he's been so prolific on this tour, to which Cooky replied, "I dunno really.." This prompted the barmy Army to break into song-
He bowls to the left
He bowls to the riiiight
Mitchell Johnson, his bowling is sh*te

It was always mainly the Poms here - and mainly Chas and Merlin really - who talked Bell down. A fair few Australian supporters here thought he was a danger man. I was surprised by Cook's success, but not by Bell's. He'll be captain one day when Cook is unavailable ...

And the only "out" I have neglected to praise England with over the past couple of weeks is "out-supported".
Good luck to the Barmy Army. They've had a hell of a grouse trip to savour for the rest of their lives. Well done and thanks for the entertainment.
I know Zoggy doesn't necessarily share my views and the singing brigade and their trumpeter.
