Watson is a freaking disgrace. All his good work with the bat has been undone in this series with 3 run outs of the 3 openers, each of which was his fault.

How good is Tremlett by the way? Hard to believe he was a surprise pick for the tour. He's been the bowler of the series for me.

Should be a top buzz. How many ex-pats and tourists will be storming the SCG then - any guesses?
I reckon there will be around 20,000 in. 97% of them English.

You obviously don't know that an "attack" consists of all the bowlers.
Yeah, SA still miles better than anyone else (except Pak but cheaters don't count). And Steyn is an ''attack'' in himself.

But Harris and Tsotsobe are mediocre.

You were right. It's going to need a tad longer.ever hopeful wrote:Dello wrote:Couple of balls have really died and trickled to the keeper.

5-0 worse I would think, but the fact it's on your home soil whilst our drubbing was on an away tour might make it comparable.Paul Keating wrote:Is the Aussie series defeat worse than the 5 zip drubbing of England four years back?
5 losses in a row
or 3 innings losses in 5 games
What is worse?

Aye 5-0 is worse.
In fact, losing 3-1 with 3 x 1 run losses would be worse.

I tried to get to sleep last night during the Clarke and Khawaja partnership, but once I turned off the TV I was literally bursting out with laughter whilst I tried to sleep thinking about that Watson run out. Ended up watching every session so feel utterly farked right now.
But, I've never felt so proud of the English cricket team as I did when I finally got to sleep last night. An utterly mesmerising day, fantastic bowling and batting and there was probably only half an hour where Watson was smacking it about when Australia had anything to cheer about.
I hope we wrap it up quickly tomorrow. Obviously no chance of a win or even a draw for Australia, but it would sum up the series if we managed to finish it off within half an hour tomorrow which is what we deserve.
It's really really weird to be this proud of the English cricket team. It feels like some sort of alternative reality. Legendary tour, and I don't use the word lightly.

Plenty to be proud of. Just about every player is playing as well as can be hoped. Can't ask for more than that.

It's just a shame we have these stupid ODIs to come. They would probably get a decent reception back at home if they came back tomorrow but in a month's time I think the excitement would have died down.JGK wrote:Plenty to be proud of. Still. There is a World Cup coming up so the practice is going to be useful.
The 1987 World Cup was the start of the resurgence for Aust cricket after the utter depths of the 86/7 Ashes.

Dont' worry about it. In 1987 we had a few up and coming and hungry youngsters (S Waugh for one) and a captain held in the highest regard by the cricket world.
This time round we'll have a talentless rabble and who even knows who will be captain.

At the start of this series I said England would win 1-0. It looks like 3-1, but there's a 1 in there so basically I was right.
Damn I'm good.

I actually can't farking believe my Dad has managed to fluke 4 correct Ashes scores in a row.
I'll have to let you all know what he says for the next series, but there is no f**king way he can get 5 in a row, 4 is weird enough. 3 was weird enough, I thought this series would end his run.

Free entry is a clever move, providing they open the bars early .

Talking about inaccuracy, Hilfenhaus did a Johnny Howard today with one of his deliveries.
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse.
At least the selectors surely can no longer be in denial.

Here is the 10 point plan by TGM.
Simplistic stuff, but still way ahead of CA.
http://www.foxsports.com.au/cricket/the-ashes/former-test-great-shane-warne-reveals-his-10-point-plan-to-lift-australia-in-wake-of-ashes-humiliation/story-e6frf3gl-1225982754931
Simplistic stuff, but still way ahead of CA.
1. International players must play more domestic cricket. If you want to perform at the top then the foundations must be strong.
2. No more resting players. They should want to play every game, creating a toughness of mind and body.
3. No more seven one-dayers against the same team. One-dayers keep everything ticking over financially, but maybe an ODI at each major venue - five in total - and three Twenty20s would better serve our side.
4. Talk more cricket after a day's play, don't rush off. Get to know your teammates better.
5. Fewer support staff. Get the coach or manager to organise specific people to come in when required, which leads to more thinking for yourself and not relying too much on others.
6. Bowlers to stop thinking about going for runs and start thinking wickets. Attack the stumps, bowl fuller and risk being driven.
7. Batsmen to work against bowlers not bowling machines. We need proper, hard net sessions with a purpose. Every session must be about learning and improving.
8. Create an environment that is competitive and team-orientated not individual.
9. It's not a job, it's fun and enjoyable to be playing cricket and representing Australia. When selecting players, look for spirit and a sense of fun.
10. Cricket basics. As I said earlier, we need to do them better than anyone else in the world.

Watching Tim Bresnan's posterior chugging up to the crease continously for 5 days can do strange things to a man.
