Australia v England, 5th ODI, Brisbane, Jan 30, 2011
CA originally designated this match as the flood relief match before expanding the theme to cover the t20s and all the ODIs.
I wonder how long it took them to realise that holding the 'flood relief' match in a city that hed been flooded wasn't the smartest marketing idea.
Anyhoo, will Michael Clarke finally remember which end of the bat to hold, and what to do with it?
Has Tait's heartstring injury recovered?
And which Australian player who hasn't been selected for the World Cup will star this time around?
All will be revealed on Sunday...

Wonder if Colly's downgrading will continue and, due to a stomach strain, he now gets picked purely as a fielder...

I think it's time Capt. Horsemeat did what he did at the T20 WC. Drop himself down the order so he either doesn't have to bat, or we'd be in so much sh!t that he could crab away to his heart's content. He is clearly feeling the pinch with the need to get on with it (and rightly so) which inevitable leads him to a crap get-out shot. Maybe list himself at 7.

More likely to spoil the wrap up....especially as Johnson has announced he is fit to play.

Aye. I can feel a 0-70 in the offing for Madge.

In the meantime, Pup has recieved the 'endorsement of death'
Meanwhile, Clarke has found an unlikely ally in champion England allrounder Ian Botham, who says criticism of Clarke is unfair and his position in the Australian team for the World Cup and beyond shouldn't be questioned.
"He's having a rough patch with the bat but he's not the first captain to go through a lean period," Botham said.
"His captaincy has been very good in this one day series and he's a quality player who'll come good.
"Australian fans need to cut him some breathing space and support the guy.
"In my opinion, if Ricky (Ponting) doesn't come up for the World Cup, and that's a possibility with his finger injury, then Clarke leads Australia, no question."

So He missed three games with a "throat infection"? He's either the softest guy in the World, or it was the worst throat infection of all time.
Considering how crap he's been for most of the Summer, were they worried to say he was being rested?

Most of us were hoping the 'infection' was terminal.

Australian captain Michael Clarke says he was chasing a clean-sweep in the seven-game Commonwealth Bank Series against England, but after losing in Adelaide he'll settle for a 6-1 result.
...it would probably help if you scored somes runs you crab.

Off to bed shortly, so will just post this now:
Well played, England! Excellent win again! Now 3 - 2 with two to play. Pressure back on Oz?

Aus win toss and bat...
Woakes into the side for Yardy
Finn gets a game instead of Yardy - must expect it to nip about a bit. Finny hopefuly displays more control than he did in the tests!

Oh God. Softy McSoftcock II (Madge) has got over his 3 week sore thraot and is playing. Expect a downpour of fat pies followed by a drizzle of tarts, pastries and flans.

So England have now dropped both of their back-up spinners for the World Cup in favour of guys who aren't even in the world Cup squad. If they don't think they're good enough, then there is no excuse for picking them for the World Cup squad. Muppets.

A par start for Aust. 50 off the first 10 overs. Marsh & Haddin need to put together a decent partnership here because there is not much to come.

I think he was just trying to put it there on a length in the tests, rather than running in and just letting rip.
