Of course they are. After all, Gary Kirsten has a reputation as a grafter and a selfless hard worker, something that the Indians are scared will be expected of them as well now. Added to the fact that many of them played against him and had their noses dipped into puddles of their own wee-wee while he spanked their bottoms with a rolled up newspaper and told them off, it's not hard to see why they wouldn't want him as a coach. The Indian seniors won't be happy until the BCCI appoints Jam-Doughnut McCouch-Potato as coach.

Yeah, according to the mysterious 'sources' and players who have commented on conditions of anonimity. In other words, they've made it all up.

Oh so the senior Indian players loved Chappell and his methods then.
All the press reports to the contrary were made up.

SRT, SCG, Dravid need not lessons from Kirsten on grafting. And as for their fielding efforts, they know it quite well that they can not push much more on that front than they are doing so now. Basically Kirsten doesn't have much to offer from a individual player perspective apart from the fact that he is a saffie and that might just irk the wozzies further esp during post-match press conferences during the tour.

Ganguly could certainly do with some lessons in hard work. Apart from which, do you only have three players in your team? I thought there were more. Or should the decision of who to appoint as coach reside entirely with the players nearest the end of their careers?

Ranatunga was touted as a possibility in a few newspapers I've read.

A confederacy of whingers is what this thread is descending into. Kirsten said something in 96. WGAF?
On the other side of the argument he isn't the messiah either. His ODI record against us has been superb. But his Test numbers against India don't seem to suggest he 'spanked us' :
Mat I NO Runs HS1 HS2 HS3 Ave 100 50 0
Career Avg 101 176 15 7289 275 220 210 45.27 21 34 13
Avg vs. India 10 19 1 720 133 103 102 40.00 3 3 1
He''s averaging less than his Test career average against us (five below).
But in ODI's he's certainly done very well, aggregates 62.5 against India versus a 40.95 career average.
Mat I NO Runs HS1 HS2 HS3 Ave 100 50 0
Career 185 185 19 6798 188* 133* 124 40.95 13 45 11
Vs. Ind 26 26 4 1377 133* 115* 115 62.59 4 9 1

Check his Test record in India. He didn't have to spank you in SA - all the other batsmen did that for him and he just watched. He likes to watch.

Even if he spanked us that proved nothing. We had a shit attack in the 90s and early to middle 00s.

So we're debating Kirsten's suitability as India's coach based on his playing record against them?

No, we're debating how many of the Indian players will want someone who spanked them as a coach.

yeah...the aryan came from South Africa and spanked the short brown guy and showed him his place. Records, nature of attack during that period and nothing else matters of course.

If white people didn't exist, would you have to invent them or would you just beat your wife instead?
