Did someone let them know you can't add a replaced player back into squads?

Well, the last young bowling "sensation" in world cricket was involved in a bit of a scandal, you might have heard about it...skully wrote:Eh?

Skully's been paid off. He has no memory of any such scandal.
But he does have a shiny new leather jacket...

maybe Paris thinks that CA can convince the ICC that Paris is a frontline Oz bowler with the evidence that Ricky threw him the ball when that Test in Subiland was in the balance the other year
Nobhead Slater said this morning that you do not have to pick like for like as a replacement

what about sending fleas over....he has been a legendary part of a team that has thrice lost the unlosable - ie series v the pomgolians...
of course his bowling and renowned fielding would be an invaluable asset too

Interesting that this little gem has just about gone un-noticed
Bresnan in hot water
particularly by the Indian media when the minor incident with Ponting was blown out of all proportion.
Just highlights the level of bias of the rabid Indian media.

Re: World Cup 2011
I think it's more a case of the game overshadowing the incident, no? Australia v Zimbabwe left nothing much else to talk about other than the Ponting incident.
I didn't even notice Bressy hitting the stumps with his bat. The game itself was too engrossing.

And to think some clowns wanted these as a test playing nation. Same with Ireland now.

Aye, the ineptitude beggar's belief. Still, what can be expected when this is pretty much the only chance these nations get to play the better teams? Couple that with the fact they have no semblance of a FC infrastructure and there's just no chance at all for these shitlemons.
Re: World Cup 2011
Hard for Ireland to put forward their case to be a test nation when they don't even have a first class competition. Zimbabwe's test status will be restored before Ireland achieve test status.

Aye and fair do's really, people have gone to great lengths to repair the shite that happened in Zimbabwe, they're in some ways 'a team on the up'.
Re: World Cup 2011
As I keep saying, the ICC should focus all of their efforts into making sure cricket (and specifically test cricket) stays popular with the current test playing nations rather than piss money away on these dross weasels.Brass Monkey wrote:Aye, the ineptitude beggar's belief. I'm with you there, cricket does not need to be a worldwide game to survive.

Cor, that's pretty elitist V-style. From my perspective, the bigger nations can look after themselves, it's inherant in our societies and hence will always be there. The smaller nations may need persistance in the persuasion stakes and cricket would be all the more richer for more nations who are decent at playing the game.
Re: World Cup 2011
I'm not saying they shouldn't be allowed to play cricket but if they don't even have an FC system why are we wasting our time? Cricket isn't going to be popular everywhere, most of the players from the smaller nations in this world cup are expats. If there are countries where cricket seems to be popular then by all means, put some money into it, but has there been any real progress with the smaller nations in the last 20 years of world cups? Bangladesh are the only side that have been given test status and the only wins they have had have been against the zimboks and a 3rd XI West Indies team.Brass Monkey wrote:vilkrang wrote:As I keep saying, the ICC should focus all of their efforts into making sure cricket (and specifically test cricket) stays popular with the current test playing nations rather than piss money away on these dross weasels.

The Bangers were always going to start going in the right direction eventually considering they are cricket crazy and have a population of 140 million people. Actually all things considered I think their progress has been quite slow.
Canada? Will never happen. Kenya? Will never happen/ USA? Will never EVER happen (and thank God for that)
the only exception I would make would be Afghanistan. Maybe i'm sentimental, but I want to see them helped in every way possible.

Re: World Cup 2011
Cricket is obviously nowhere near as popular as Rugby in NZ, but then again cricket is nowhere near as popular as Football in England. You could say the same about South Africa- Cricket is the third most popular sport over there, but it's still pretty ingrained into the sporting culture. South Africans care how the Proteas perform and Kiwis care how the Black Caps perform. On the other hand, do people in Canada even know that Canada is in the cricket world cup? Do they even know the world cup is on right now?
The Kiwi's will always be pretty competetive because cricket is still the main Summer sport over there.
