Looks like WC 2015 will be the first one where Test nations are not guaranteed a slot.
Fair enough too, make the weaker Test sides earn it.
Though I arsume NZ and Aust will be sure of a place.

SL PAK match last Saturday?PeterCS wrote:Yup. World cricket owes a debt of gratitude to Never-say-live England. Ensuring the only close matches AND welcoming the minnows into the fold.
Apparently the Poms had a secret training match (just a 20/20) against Kolkata Urchins yesterday, to repair morale and team spirit. Lost by 6 wickets.

In more news from centrebet, England are paying 3.50 to be eliminated at the group stage, so obviously a lot of punters have more faith in them than I do.

Pretty damn ordinary of the Banger supporters to take their anger out on the Windies. Personally the headline "Fans stone Bangers bus for p!ssweak effort" would've been acceptable and perhaps even laudable.

Anyway, SL v Aus tomorrow, repeat of last time's final and a possible dress rehearsal for this time's. Let's hope two of the favourites provide a decent game, all we've had so far is minnow-bashing and a handful of decent games due to the crapularity of England's (and on one occasion also India's) bowling and fielding.

Re: World Cup 2011 (II)
As alluded to by beams...
It don't make it right but...
"The bus carrying the West Indies players has been stoned on its way back to the team hotel after they thrashed Bangladesh by nine wickets in Mirpur. There were no injuries, the team management confirmed to ESPNcricinfo, and both squads were safely back at the hotel but the players were shaken."
...
"A Bangladesh police official said the fans had mistaken the West Indies bus for the Bangladesh bus. "The fans thought it was the Bangladeshi team bus and they hurled stones at it," Imtiaz Ahmed, deputy commissioner of police in Dhaka, told AFP. "The window panes were shattered, but no one was injured."
Mustafa Kamal, the Bangladesh Cricket Board president, apologised for the incident, but insisted that there was enough security in place. "We are sorry about the incident. This is the first time it is happening here," he said. "Now we will take extra care. Much more security measures will be taken care of."
------------------------------------
Crystal was understandably rattled...
"Gayle was not that calm about it. He tweeted again: "This is ridiculous!!! Damn!!! W Cup with so many security an this happen!! Big Joke!!! Trust me I'm not keen here!!! Av (every) players lay flat!!!"

WI look very dangerous side now, if they include one more genuine pace bowler then who knows how far they can go
