Not having the old conjurer of impossible chokes, Boucher, pays off for SA. Well done to their selectors for putting faith in Peterson. So much for his lack of big hitting abilities. Now if only they could discard the deadwood like Smith and Kallis.

That was one bad game for India. Always a bad omen when batman starts following Indian matches (with his 'assignments' on the side).
A few really bad calls by Dhoni today. Taking singles off the first ball of the overs with only tailenders on the other end and Steyn on fire,,, giving Nehra the final over when he's in such awful form.
And yeah well played SA to get over the line.

Re: World Cup 2011 (II)
All my pre-WC predictions of a retarded middle order letting us down in big games is coming to a pass. Y. Pathan is a one trick pony who can score off a couple of matches in 10. Yuvraj barring his minnow bashing act has been a tosspot for ages now. Virat Kohli was always going to be tested in real pressure tournament being inexperienced. We definately missed the boat not grooming Pujara in the SA one day series by playing the FTB Raina ahead of him. We definately need someone solid in the middle to work on the ones and twos, someone who won't be blinded by the misleading glories of big hits. We missed the boat by not having gritty players like Parthiv Patel/Pujara in the MO. Next game Dhoni may bring in Raina ahead of Kohli but fact is we are too top heavy with no balance in the middle at all.
Today's result was on the cards and my predictions on the game were spot on.
We need SRT or Sehwag at no. 4 desperately. The damage is done and most teams can now read our fragilities very clearly.

The funny thing is, that if India were 20/2 off 6, they would still have got 290. Their middle order has become mentally lazy.

Is that envy I sense, mate?
I am lucky enough I get to work on most WC tv commercials on air that you get to see now. Includes most ones with Indian team players and the forthcoming IPL4 ones [ironic admittedly since I hate T20 & IPL]. I work in pre-production design for films and work from my own space. The current Bharat Bandh series for IPL 4 and most current WC ones [featuring SRT, MuMu & Shakib] tallking about their WC hopes amidst flickering film images of past WC glories, the ones with Bowden, Viru & Malinga learning their game from rural/common folks are my 'assignments'.

envy? abt what?
You seem to be one of those who don't really enjoy their team's achievements but take immense perverse pleasure when they don't do well

What an imaginative insinuation. Where have I been not joyful when we have done well? I have been right behind the team in most test series. In fact I was the only upbeat fan when we toured SA a few weeks back. And since when is stating the obvious chinks in our team composition and stating what I can see amount to taking perverse pleasures? Most Aussie & English supporters too are in the same boat in which case.

It's amazing that we could go home having not lost a single match against the stronger nations.JKLever wrote:So these no hopers who couldn't beat England played a cracking game today I see...

Re: World Cup 2011 (II)
The batting was a complete letdown once the big 3 went. But that was expected.
In a way it's good we got a big loss out of the way too. Hopefully it will drill some sense and responsibility in what remains here onwards.

Under any case we have a much worse record than SA in choking. India has been the biggest finals chokers for a over a decade now, either it be WC final [2003], CT final [2001] or most triangular series finals. So lets see.

By handing out a remedial lesson in how to play real cricket.
Obviously they hav'nt worked out how to transfer it to the limited over game.
Re: World Cup 2011 (II)
Well no. I think that's fairly obvious isn't it?
(We can still win this though!)

Well, they are World T20 champions. Doesn't get more limited over-y than that.
Just this middle of the road, dying format of the game that isn't going so well.
