Month of Meh
No real cricket to speak of (does Aus v Bangers count?), no elections to get into sh!tfests over, early days in Aus football and Eng County Cricket, and I really can't see the final months of the EPL driving much discussion other than between Dello and his loyal bunch of dart throwing thugs. Could be a very quiet month.
I predict 4,400 posts or less for a new record low in this joint. To "help" this along, Aussies have a 5 day weekend coming up with Easter and Anzac Day coinciding.
Perhaps April should be renamed "Meh".
And here's me off crook for the day with nuffin to talk about.

Would've happily gone along if invited, h. Alas, I don't rub shoulders with the Aus cricketing elite.
I've had a beer with the Assassin, who's a Perth Grade Umpire. Does that count?

that counts for plenty S
some brouhaha in the media about the pup celebrating his 30th and whether his behaviour befits an Oz captain...methinks the media has already found the Month of Meh

Re: Month of Meh
It all sounded rather well behaved, actually. Pup only had a couple as they laughed into the wee small hours. The most hijinx was when Pup playfully jumped on his manager's back for a piggyback.
I think Officer Barbrady has the right statement for this one...

Re: Month of Meh
Pup is a marked man ...the media will pounce on everything he does and give it a negative spin ...there is already a lot of negative feeling from the public about Clarke ...mostly caused up by the media
Some of the negative questions he got first up at his captaincy press conference were disgraceful for blokes who are supposedly sports journos
eg Can you and Ricky work together in the same team?

Re: Month of Meh
Indeed..the cricket media I think will have nothing to write about in the month of Meh so will be jumping the shark as usual...
expect dramatic headlines about the series with the Bangles...btw do you know why they dropped te 2 test series but kept the jamodis...
wonder if there will be more news about the review

I thought that was a pretty legit question albeit one the journo knew he was gonna get a canned response too. But it had to be asked. Not much difference from laurie Oaks et al asking bleeding obvious questions and getting spin.
As for the media trying to ping him for bad behaviour. Given his current rep amongst Aus sports fans it'd probably do his image nothing but good, a la Rudd and the strip joint.

I never knew I had a loyal bunch of dart throwing thugs. Or even what the means.

It was the timing of the question ...it was first or second asked ...before the "How do you feel to be Oz captain?" obligatory blah blah...

Re: Month of Meh
he is on a hiding to nothing...
it was only a year ago that he broke with Bingle and made a ton in nz....at that stage I think there was some groundswell of goodwill toward him
sadly for him and Oz cricket he has done little since and the positive media and public sentiment has gone

Re: Month of Meh
That's why he's paid the big bucks. And unlike his predecessors, except for Punter (and let's face it Punter's spin training probably required the use of picture cards), he had a PR team backing him up.
Another point raised on this thread was the media going after Ricky and running down Clarke. For once I think this was actually driven by the public and not the other way round. The media monitor their own publication's LTTEs and probably sites like these. In fact for the Oz media this site may have been where they got their lead.

Merely a throw back to the good ol' days of English football when at a, say, 70s or 80s Man U v Leeds match, rival supporters would pass notes of encouragement to each other via a thrown dart or coin.Dello wrote:Mehpril?

"The media monitor their own publication's LTTEs"
Yeah - that would give them a perfectly representative sample of whingers with too much time on their hands, and for the real in-depth stuff there's always the MSN and LMPFSP polls....

Bottle of piss, dear boy. Get with the times.
Re: Month of Meh
There is only one reason why this month will fail, and all of you are responsible. I have alluded to the reason in other threads, but will not repeat myself (for once).

Besides which, our glorious CC is about to kick off.
Some say it's the best domestic competition in the world.
Well, after Posh and Becks and Jordan and Whoever is The Latest Publicitysucker possibly.

He's only mid 20's! BTW, that's an old sounding chat-up line - you must be as out of practice as me.
