Not last year. We had a thread, and it worked better too.

Last year it was pretty much Smerky who kept the IPL threads going. Who's going to step up and take his position?

Re: IPL Thread 2011
I'm guessing Australia is the only test playing nation that has no IPL coverage on TV this season. Considering Australia is India's bitch when it comes to cricket, that's surprising. I don't watch the IPL much, but it's sometimes good to put it on, pissed after a night out.

It's still one ITV4 here.. I wonder if the shambles of a presenter Mandira Bedi is still going to be presenting.

Re: IPL Thread 2011
I'm pretty much as excited / interested as I am that the golf masters is on. If I wanted to watch mainly hacks displaying poor levels of cricket, I go and watch our competition. Yet it's put on a pedestal. No doubt I'll watch bits when I'm bored to tears. But that's as good as it gets, a stop-gap.

Re: IPL Thread 2011
Well, I watched 10 overs of the first match before I suddenly realised I was bored sh*tless.
The World T20 is fun because it's a short, sharp tournament played by guys who are doing it for their countries rather than their bank balances. The rest (ie the money chasing domestic competitions) can f*ck off. The fielding today was shite. Some catches were dropped by big name players who you just know wouldn't have dropped those catches had they been playing in an important match for their country. The fact is- They're not putting as much into these matches as they would for their Countries. They're taking it easy. Cruising, really. Pick up the cheque for a million bucks, thank you very much, see you next year.

Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds has injured his shoulder after falling down stairs in a hotel bar in Mumbai, just days before his Indian Premier League side's first match.
The 35-year-old Symonds, who is contracted to the Mumbai Indians, retired from international cricket in 2009 after a controversial career but decided to continue playing Twenty20 cricket.
It is unclear whether the injury will affect his participation in the Indians' IPL campaign, although Symonds' Australian-based manager says the former Test and ODI all-rounder still hopes to be fit for the opening match.

But Roy seems to be treating the IPL the same way he treated playing for Australia.Henry wrote:The World T20 is fun because it's a short, sharp tournament played by guys who are doing it for their countries rather than their bank balances...The fact is- They're not putting as much into these matches as they would for their Countries. ....... and while I'm here, I wish someone would tell Magda Szubanski that while she might have lost 36kg, she is still fat!
I'm sick of seeing ads that are suggesting she is now slim.
