Looks like the Proteas tour or England next year will be curtailed with there being one less test.

Hmm, given a choice of 2 three test series against the Windies and South Africa, or a two test series against the Windies and a four test series against the Saffies, i'd probably have to go with the three-three split, assuming the Windies don't completely self destruct between now and then.

A pre-condition of us staging the Olympics was that absolutely no other major sporting event would take place whilst the games were in progress.

AFAIK, thgere's no definate itinerary for the tour, but if previous years are any guide there'll be at least one T20 and 5 JAMODIS against SA. Better to ditch some of the short sh!t for a 4th Test IMHO.

A three jamodi series should be enough these days. Have three T20 games and three jamodis.

Shambles. Total shambles. I reckon we should f*ck the three Tests off and just play 25 ODIs & T20s. Wankers. Wankerish, shitbag wankers.

Considering test cricket is still the number one drawcard in England, they'll surely look at cutting back the number of ODIs before they drop a test?

They can get f*cked. Why would the Sub Continent care about the schedule of an England v South Africa series? I can't imagine the Indian audience being in the millions....

Besides, we OWN South Africa in ODI cricket recently. I'm sure they'd prefer the extra test.

I'm just on about the subcontinental format of scant Tests, 300 ODIs.

It's doubtful they'd want an extra Test, it's too much hard work.

There's always the feeling with the Windies that they're a couple of decent fast bowlers away from being competitive again. Provided their batting lineup contains Shiv, Gayle, and Sarwan. Which it probably wont......

Ah well.

It remains to be seen, but my first comment was in lieu of this happening. We've still got the 10 Test 'slugathon' in 2013/14 and it's 6 Tests next year, all the same.

They beat us in a 4 test series just 2 years ago fair and square.

They beat us in that series with one outstanding spell of fast bowling in the first test, and the incredibly flat pitches won the rest of the series, along with captain conservative's negative declaration in the last test, which left us a wicket short on the last afternoon.

God, Negs has just been the pits, hasn't he? Yeah, we may have drawn more than we've lost - so moral victory to us? I know what I'd rather, though.

Off the top of my head. his negative declarations have cost us at least two test victories- Port of Spain 09, and Lord's last week.

Not sure that an earlier declaration at Lords would have led to a victory.

I think this was suggested a while ago when they proposed the original tour schedules. Absolute joke though, England-SA has been probably the closest fought and most competitive of our series over the last decade or so, even going back to their readmission in the 90s I guess. I don't think we've had a series with more than one match between the sides in the final reckoning since then. Deserves to be played over 5 like the Ashes.
