If they let Amla get to 100. Disgraceful.

It was bad enough when the NZers did it.

Boeta Dippenaar's doing well these days, isn't he?

Oh no, wait, he's doing SHIT! They finally replaced him with a decent bat they never should've dropped in the first place and gave a proper run to a batsman who played a truly composed and chanceless knock today and who deserves to get a hundred tomorrow.

I was hoping for something a bit more colourful, Bliks. Disappointed.

I'm glad McKenzie's back in the team as well, BTW.

I see the Eagles racked up 181/3 in their 20/20 game against Zim this evening. And the reason they were able to post such a good total? Because Boeta Dippenaar didn't bat. He was dropped down the order so that they could actually score at a reasonable clip and was down to come in at number 9.

I can't imagine why you'd even pick him in a 20/20 game, at any level. Not his thing at all.

Can I ask - why was McKenzie left out in the first place? He always seemed a quality player to me. Certainly better than Rudolph/Dippenaar/Amla (I'd rate him above Smith, actually).

Amla is rubbish, and India's bowling must have been shocking for him to be on 85. Rolling Eyes

Amla has improved a lot in the last 12-18 months. McKenzie is a class player but playing spin bowling isnt his strong point.

With the exception of RP Singh the Indian bowling wasn't that bad so credit should go to Amla for playing well

Batting on the first 3 days at Chepauk is not the most difficult job in the world. Things will get interesting later. And McKenzie played spin very well even though it was a first day wicket.

I apologise to the Indian bowlers. It would appear the pitch is more to blame than them.

At the Oval years went by with sides trading 500+ on first innings and at the presentation they say and a special thankyou to the groundsman for making such a wonderful surface. It took years before the pundits stopped rabitting on about what a wonderful pitch it was.

Pitches like this are automatic draws between two relatively evenly matched sides and a total waste of time and action should be taken against the ruling body to prevent this happening.

We should prepare bad wickets, because we are the best bad-wicket players in the world.

Pitch at Chennai produces a result more often than not and the match generally takes a dramatic turn from post lunch session on the 4th day here.

We'll see what happens in this match though!

Interesting that during the first two days the Indian commentators were complaining endlessly about how pitches like this one gave an unfair advantage to whoever won the toss. Strangely enough I haven't heard one of them even mention the pitch since the start of the Indian innings.

I agree with you wholeheartedly Thickedge. Still, the groundsman's under 25 and is still learning his trade, you've got to invest in groundsmen like this. By 30, he may be producing the goods on a regular basis.
